It's curious, the way some people seem to attract the Law's attention so often, they become exasperated by it, and convinced they are being "picked on" in some way.

Only twice i've been pulled over while taking a car for a wof after the wof was expired. both times i told the cop i was on the way to the testing station both times they accepted my explanationalthough the second time i was asked to call in to the station to show the wof and rego as soon s i got them.which i did. Maybe it was because it was daytime and the testing station was actually open was the reason they believed me i don't know lol.oh and cos i was telling the truth

I come to a complete stop at stop signs on my bicycle. It a chance to practice my trackstands.

Not sure I understand your point here, stusowry, but then it's early on a Saturday morning and I haven't had me breakfast yet.

Morning Jazz' hope your Saturday has begun well for you.I have to say the ticketing for the "on the way to get a WOF" would be dependent on the journey you took from "home", or place the vehicle was kept, to the testing station. For example (and I note you live in the general Tauranga area) a trip over the Kaimais and back would not be regarded as very direct so to speak.I mean if that were the case then we could understand the officer issuing the ticket.Knowing what I do of you then I am sure if the above circumstances or similar existed you would have contested the case in the court with the expectancy of getting off.You did, didn't you!

BIG tick to that!

On most of the 20 motorcycles I have owned, I have been unable to place both feet on the ground, only one or the other. Should my license be cancelled on this basis!

Good call, I was taught this 30+ yrs ago. No Weetbix packet here.

#33.I can see it now, swaying side to side so each foot touches the ground at least once then off you go.

Neither of these are correct. The only requirement is as per the legislation someone else posted. There is no 3 second requirement and if you were to stop in front of me for 3 seconds when there were no vehicles to give way to, I'd think you'd nodded off and give you a decent blast of the horn to wake you.

I can't recall ever hearing about a 3 second rule except from people who've been ticketed. Maybe some cops need 2 seconds to wake up.
When I learnt to ride a motorcycle I was told that your feet belong on the foot pegs not trailing along like trainer wheels. In those days you might need both feet on the ground while getting the bike started.

Ummm I think it means Stop.
Good to see the cops finally enforcing it.

Any comment on my other question

What other question ! . from what I can see both of your questions have been answered in the thread.

Not by the person I just ask. If he thinks you stop then does that apply to being stopped behind another car in his opinion
smac,
Jun 9, 11:17am
Yeah but what he thinks is irrelevant.it's the law that counts.
stusowry,
Jun 9, 2:28pm
If you are meaning the intersections, most of them have giveway signs, and we are talking good open intersections. So why the need for stop signs there, when there's 20 other identical intersections with giveway signs. Even the main intersections are all giveway.

once you get into the habit its easy peazy.saves ya wallet too!
v8_mopar,
Jun 9, 3:15pm
Its not irrelevant cos its an opinion and id like to see if someone who strongly and vaguely says stop thinks its ok to go through after another car without stopping
johnf_456,

+1 We can't have any one enforce the law can we

Then there was the driver who approached a stop sign, slowed then carried on through. At the other side a cop stopped him and said "You didn't stop". "No but I slowed down" The cop took out his truncheon and started beating the driver. "Stop Stop that hurts" " Do you want me to stop or just slow down!"
tonyrockyhorror,
Jun 10, 3:37pm
If you're asking do you have to have no vehicle immediately in front of you when you stop in order for your stopping to be counted then the answer is no. You can be second in the queue and provided you stop at a point where you can determine if there are vehicle that you must give way to then you have fully complied with the requirement to stop.
v8_mopar,
Jun 10, 3:49pm
yea thats been pointed out
*shakes head*
Not what ive been getting at. He said um you stop well no shit. Some input is right some wrong some daft but his was obvious and lame. I just wanted to see if he could expand on it

Yeh tractor9.I think what maybe the issue is that back in the day there may have been slight variations from one part of the country to the other for whatever reasons.as for folk get'n their knickers in a bunch over the length of 3 whole ferk'n seconds.ffs it would've taken them longer to read this.duh!
