Can a clock be sold as new even if it's clearly a second hand clock!

bitsy_boffin, Jul 5, 7:16pm
Ok

1. Are you in fact entitled to describe yourself as a watchmaker.
2. Has the person in fact said you are not a watchmaker.
3. Has this caused damage to you.

If these are all true, I would:

1. get screen captures, or printout, or PDF copy, of these statements he has made NOW

2. write a letter informing the person of your credentials and demanding that he post an immediate retraction. It is not sufficient to just delete the post, because that does not "set the record straight", a full retraction is required.

3. if he does not, time to see a lawyer, it is defamation

Oooo yeah, spend thousands suing his scrawny butt all the while trying to prove an actual loss.

noswalg, Jul 5, 7:34pm
only time will tell

Get to it straight away, then there is no need for a grandfather clause.

This will prevent someone from exploiting an escape mechanism.

End of the day all watch puns aside ya just met some clown who **possibly** could slur your professional reputation-happens but end of the day again people KNOW who gets it right troggy

trogedon, Jul 5, 8:48pm
Cheers ;-)

trogedon, Jul 5, 8:56pm
Thanks guys.
This just came in the middle of some other crap. The worst being my wife has a cancerous area of skin on her upper lip which we need to start seeing specialists about / have a biopsy etc.
After considering what most of you are saying (in between very good puns), what my wife said about it and visiting a friend tonight and talking some things through it??

jmma, Jul 5, 9:00pm
All said and done, I feel you have come up with the right decision. Let your work speak for its self.
Good luck and keep those watches ticking (o:

maybe he doesn't want input from the braindead housewives, moaning beneficiaries, religious nutbars or the bewildered elderly who populate other forums.

chevcamaro, Jul 7, 6:46am
best of luck with your wifes treatment as well trogg

lookoutas, Jul 7, 7:42am
Don't be stupid - this is motoring, so it's probably an automatic.
And just to keep it there - The clock in my Mustang doesn't go (as they all do/don't) Can you fix them troggy!

All the best to wife. Been there - I'm winning.

trogedon, Jul 7, 10:30am
Thanks guys for the best wishes for my wife.
I messaged the guy who set up the site who must've said something to the guy who left the comments - who then contacted me and apologised. I said as he'd made the comment on a public forum he needed to amend it in the same forum. I haven't checked if he has.
Mustang clocks! I should be able to sort it. They're pretty straightforward and usually just have dry oil after all those years of sitting there unloved (but not unlovely!).

hijacka, Jul 7, 10:47am
You should really ''WATCH'' out for that in future.

nightsky1, Jul 7, 11:09am
my 5 cents worth is your calm and professional response to him has had the winning result.

Since we have migrated from discreditation back to clocks I've got a clock question.Anybody have, or know the whereabouts of, a clock for a 55 Mk IV Humber Super Snipe. Not likely to find one that goes as they all burn out.I just want one to fill up the big hole in the housing. Its a Smiths and its square.I'd put up a pic but as I dont have a clock can't.LOL.Best wishes to Mrs T as well.

trogedon, Jul 8, 10:31am
Re your car clock. Some times an aftermarket movement can be put in. There are small quartz battery movments that can be used and just solder on wire to the battery contacts to fit the battery where it can be changed easily (although a good battery will last3 years).

Thanks cw re Mrs T.

supernova2, Jul 8, 6:51pm
Thanks trogey.Never thought of that.I pull the housing bit out and have a measure up.Probably have to sort out something for the glass but a bit of perspex might do that.Guessing that battery movements run on 1.5 but could fit a resister so it runs on the 12v.Food for thought.ps useing my login tonite.

trogedon, Jul 9, 8:51am
I'm sure you'll work it out. It nice to have everything in the dash working.
