He said he dosnt need a rader to give a ticketand he tracked him at 115kph then down to 113. The guys passanger was caught earlier in the night doin 111 then oops 110kph. He was told by the cop several times he dosnt need a rader. And he (the cop) did say toward the end you were doing about 115kph. Yes I can rewind and give a word for word but that would take forever but as theres someone esle agreeing with my first comment I wont bother. The cop also asked about is attitude, not to swear at the lady, do you have a licence. The moron told the cop to get out of his face when the cop stepped up to him. The moron was quite polite in his stupidity mind you. I look and listen when watching things not just pick the bits that I feel make a good story. And ive just hit record so good ol my sky will record it for me so if you really want to get into it I can.

Where's the guess work in following a car while watching your own (accurate) speedo!
msigg,

Yes he can estimate it and give you a ticket, you can take it to court, spend money on a lawyer and could get of, but just you and the officer, he will win. He is experienced in this area and sworn officer to uphold the law, so judge will accept his case.

.and even though he may tell you at the time he has no radar, he will stand up in court and say he had.(Happened to stepson.) Court sergeant afterwards said "They lie, so we lie.Who do you think the court will believe!."

Mate of yours is he. That's not how it happened. But hey. Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story
Thats for a radared offence though not tracking. two different things as of course the guy with radar gun wasnt tracking him by car at the time.
tmenz,

No, he doesn't need a radar - he has a calibrated speedometer.
n1smo_gtir,

and with those idiots caught earlier for speeding, who do you think the judge will believe.

115 and 111 km/hr. Speeding! The horror! Won't somebody think of the kittens!

This is a real problem. We rely on our Police to be truthful at all times. This is why our Police need to be "mystery shopped" on a regular basis and huge penalties given out to those who blatantly and intentionally lie like this. If under oath at the time it should be instant dismissal IMO.

bugger! I got one a while ago, just checked speedo & GPS (speedo just over 105, GPS 107) looked up & there was a cop coming towards me, lights on, U turn etc. Hands me a ticket for 114! Even the missus told him we werent going that fast & I told him I was checking speedo & GPS at the time, looked up & there you were. He reckoned it made no difference, have a nice day. I'll be standing my ground from now on.

they should let us drive that fast without harrassment, shouldnt worry about it till 120/130km/hr maybe 140/150 if youve got a new car. no need to draw a line anywhere really.

i don't for the life of me see why some of you hate the police, they have a tough job. it takes a lot of effort to nail some off these rat bags ! i mean look how they got arther allen thomas and that kim.com they're completely trustworthy
whqqsh,

its a shame they dont spend more effort catching 'rat-bags' then, rather than trumping up speeding tickets for the average Joe

+1, I couldn't agree more. Most of the members of the "great Kiwi knocking machine" have never been to a country where the police force is actually corrupt, it's a big eye opener and sure makes you appreciate what we have here in NZ.
socram,

Overall they are not corrupt, so they don't need to tell lies on minor offences, but they are so obsessed with achieving quotas, that common sense goes out of the window. I still remember being stopped at 2am having just left the M4 west of London, on a drizzly night, many years ago.I didn't slow enough for the traffic lights and when they turned from green to amber to red, I had a quick glance and as it was clear, opted to go straight through. Cop had seen me, pulled me over and told me in no uncertain terms that it was up to me to be able to stop in time, regardless of the traffic and weather conditions. He didn't give me a ticket, but to this day, I have never forgotten that lecture and ensure that approaching traffic lights, I can always stop in time. Even though I deserved it, by NOT issuing a ticket, that cop made me a better driver and even more aware of my responsibilities.
If cops here issued a lot more warnings and a lot less tickets, I suspect the standard of driving would improve - but the police bosses are totally obsessed with ticket quotas as a means of performance measurement, so blame the hierarchy, not the cop on the road.

I totally agree, but a lot here have no respect for the law and simply ignore it. Then have a big baby cry when they get caught, when they know full well they were in the wrong.
It would be very frustrating dealing with some of the people the police have to deal with on a daily basis.

True, but youngsters today are not brought up to respect the law or the police, nor teachers, the clergy, solicitors, accountants, bankers, doctors etc or any of the professions, but so many of those professions have devalued themselves by adopting lower entry standards and seem to have produced a fair few rogues. They do not seem to stress the values and ethics as much as they used to either.
Whenever there is a rogue, it makes it harder for the other members of that profession to hold their heads up, which means they need to try even harder to maintain professional standards and redress the balance. No one hates a rogue cop more than a straight cop.
