Hey brokebloke --back on track here.
What is your bike and what size is the headlight!
Not sticking up for the WOF guy here but there has to be something wrong somewhere for them to fail a WOF for the headlight being too "dim"
OR
the bike shop is telling lies.
Just to be clear there is NOTHING wrong with the factory headlights on late generation Harleys EXCEPT that the low beam dips to the right instead of the left.Thats illegal in NZ but often missed in the PP checks. If THIS isthe l issue then I'd be going back to the bike shop.

As someone else said.-Check the condition of the headlight plug Check that the lens hasn't got corroded silvering.
If the lens is gone then you may find an off the shelf headlight from an older jap car might fit in the hole.-Mind you it might be a chance to upgrade to a QH headlight

Hmm dude--this is nagging me -a 3 year old harley with a sealed beam headlight. That just doesn't sound kosher. As in its soposed to have a QHand the bike shop cheaped out on the left dip conversion

Kazbanz got it sorted ,its a 2009 1200 sportster custom, yea im sure the shop did the cheappy on the headlight as its now got a brandnew semi seal light in her and much better light with halogen bulb in it
size of the light was 61/2"cost was $65 + $14 for bulb
It did have a fully sealed headlight cheap as shit !

by the way for all you Harley knockers I saved for 5 yrs for this bike and paid cashAND i ride it every chance I can ( not in snow )
I know guys with Honda, ducatii that wont ride them with a cloud in the sky
whats the ! with that

Would not even bother with a Reply BB, if you need to explain it, they will never understand it.

Same with the ones who rave about classic cars prices, some people are happy living in a beige world, pointing at the people who live in colour, saying we all have it wrong.
Ride on!

kazbanz, Jun 25, 5:20pm
Im sure you have a fair Idea as to where I feel you should shove that cheap headlight.
So sir would you like to explain this foreighn object up your rectyum.
"well yasee I work for a bike shop selling harleys".

brokebloke1, Jun 25, 5:25pm
I dont really care what bikes people have got as long as they get out and ride them

Never been to a Harley Rally in my life.lol.its just my ride and a bloody good bike for doing the miles

mantagsi, Jun 25, 6:48pm
Not all Harley riders are tossers; I do remember a few years back when I was a tad younger, going for a blast on my FZR400, pulled up to the fish and chippie at kawakawa bay. Some dude rocked up on a harley, I thought I was gonna get done over being a chap on his own on a little jappa. turned out to be a friendly old bloke, ended up having a good rave about the bikes over some fish and chips, was a good afternoon. anyway thats my cool story

offrd1, Jun 25, 6:54pm
LOL good on him

sifty, Jun 26, 9:21am
God no, I meant normal rallies, you always see a lot of blokes doing big miles on the old tractors to get to them.

A harley only rally! I would be terrified of getting tangled up in all the tassels.

desmodave, Jun 26, 10:07am
May be you should be asking the guys that you know .May be they cant ride for shit and feel abit safer on a hot sunny day .
Fav. Quote: god created japper bikes to keep idiots off Harleys

1200cc plus, doesn't matter the brand, the way some carry on it's a crime to buy something you like
katana, goldwing, hell even an old vincent at 1000, same basic principal, if you own it, and ride it, wheres the problem - in some cross eyed jealous gits head is where the problem is, and it should stay there but they always have to open their gob and let it spew or dribble out eh

mp3539, Jun 26, 10:51am

I use to ride a 1970 triumph 650 Bonnie with the 750 upgrade kit installed, looked at the recent newer verisons of the Triumphs but something just wasnt right riding it ( my old 70 handled better, im not only one to comment on this either big debates over in the uk about the older v newer models)
