So, you are saying that its a good idea to add further hazards so as to trigger an accident from those with sub standard driving abilities!
Sounds logical!

I'll guarantee it's none from exceeding an arbitrary speed limit and not crossing the centreline or simply failing to give way.

See!I was ACCURATE to the ultimate degree.Jazz got everyone going with his opinions.Sorry Jazz but you once again proved how polarized you are on certain matters. The thing is, lad, that you seem to have far more encounters with Police than anyone I know.Certainly, and despite the fact that I spend a great deal of time travelling by motor car, I just don't have as many problems as you appear to.Maybe it's because I have a level of tolerance way above yours and recognise that NZ Police are a multi task force and have to do everything required of them by law.One thing puzzles me.how on earth did you so quickly get that photo of a stretch of road and the other of a purported traffic camera site neither of which show an existing problem! It must be that you go out prepared to find these things.Like I said, work on reducing your stress levels and live longer in good health. And thanks once again for the laughs you created here.Good stuff - you never fail to cause absolutely great come-backs from all of us.

Probably from Google. Only as accurate as the day their car filmed that area.

I'm sure many victims & their families will appreciate your guarantee.

Jazz to answer your question re SH2. The decision to lower the speed LIMIT to 90 is because it was an accident black spot. Check the data on the area. Don't ask me to offer a logical explaination as to why it is or has been a black spot because I can't see it either. But it definitely is.
tonyrockyhorror,

There are no victims. That's the point.

Yet the road toll continues to fall. Seriously, anyone who can't keep their vehicle on or under the speed limit shouldn't be driving and you don't need to have your nose on the speedo every minute or so to achieve this.
thejazzpianoma,
Jun 22, 3:43pm
The key reason the road toll continues to fall is because cars have become significantly safer of the last 15 years, it takes time for the safety revolution to work its way through the fleet.

Gedo, believe it or not have a magic box that has pictures and maps of the entire earth. I can find picutres of anywhere just like googling. perhaps thats what I should call it. google maps. now there's an idea.

As a victim of Police stupidity (loss of an innocent family member due to the stupidity of Police) I would appreciate it if the Police put their resources into keeping us safe instead of trying to catch out safe motorists on technicalities.

Snap, sorry missed this post when I replied. You are exactly right.

Jazz, it is great that you called it revenue harvesting, that really is so accurate.Like taking milk from cows, meat from cattle, and cumquats from plants, harvesting involves the removal of something useful from something that is otherwise inherently valueless.
By removing money from the pockets of those who break the law, we take something useful from someone useless. That is a great idea and should be applied more often.
thejazzpianoma,
Jun 22, 4:13pm
Lets see if you feel that way when you are a victim of this nonsense. Its only a matter of time as many are finding out.
attitudedesignz,
Jun 22, 4:28pm
AHHH i see, you're blaming the police for the loss of a loved one.
I really think it's time you put up or shut up and tell us the whole story.
bcbuilding,
Jun 22, 4:33pm
Thats just it Jazz, I am happy to live in a society were driving laws exist, they help to keep me alive on the roads. In the event I get caught speeding then I'll pay the fine.
If you really feel so strongly about being harvested, then do something constructive about it:
- stop behaving like an cumquat behind the wheel.

Jazz Explain how anyone can get a speeding ticket when they are not speeding.
Can't simplify it more than that.
Me, I can't afford to speed, so I don't.
Called choices and consequences.

If most people could drive proper we wouldnt have to pass and speed and pay fines! Licences are to easy to get for retards.
murray55,
Jun 22, 6:46pm
Could not agree more .the standard of driving in NZ is abysmal .instead of traffic police sitting waiting to ping motorists exceeding the speed limit why are they not constantly on the road apprehending dangerous/reckless driving. Of course we all want a reduction in the road toll, but I reckon soon it will plateau because they are not concentrating on the drivers that cause the real carnage.

Last friday there was a double fatal on SH2.
Ive been working on the roads for only 6 months and i see stupid things all the time i dont trust some people going 50 let alone over 100.
Nobody can predict who's going to crash most of the time so reducing the impact is all they can do really.
craigsmith,
Jun 23, 1:22am
Who cares! Do you know!
Of that number, how many are directly due to exceeding the magic number of 100, I mean 90!
If it needs explaining to the slightly dim, "Speed as a factor" listed as a contributor to an accident wherein the speed exceeded the limit is rather a tautology; a fallacy of redundancy. Light still not shining! It means that the assertion assumes its own premise, i.e. that the speed limit is an accurate definition of the highest safe speed (usually it is most certainly not).
Implying that fatalities on the road in Jazz's pictures are being avoided by imposing a 90 km/hr limit, and then enforcing penalties against normal NZ open road speeds, is just delusional. You could drive on that road at 120 or 130 perfectly safely, particularly the section with the central barrier. I'm not suggesting you do, just making the point.
This relativistic mindset where slower-is-always-better is just plain ignorant and dangerous thinking.
If lowering the limit from 100 to 90 is so effective, why not double up our safety, let's go all the way to 80!
Triple our safety, margin of error and all that. We'd better go to 70. Think of the children!
But 60 is 10 less than 70. how can people be allowed to drive at 60 when it's ten lethal speedo points more than 50!
50! That's seen a lot on roads all over the place. Clearly the authorities know something we don't. And if the limit is 50 then none of us need to bother learning how to drive properly! Let's make it 50!
