I'm amazed that many of you guys don't know the difference between a Consol & Zephyr. From the front.
They should have chucked a Zodi in there somewhere.

Looks like it as no-one looks in too much of a panic, the cop just looks a bit pissed off.I can't remember where this photo came from, I was given it by someone, so don't know the history.Thought it was an excellent photo though.

Correct. Now the question is, did David Irving (the artist) get it wrong, or was there at least one Zodiac in the MOT's fleet! That'll test the trainspotters.

One thing for certain though - those Mk IVs are totally unmemorable compared to the MK IIs and IIIs. Is there even still one on the road anywhere!

He was probably given a brochure and picked the Zodi coz it looked better. Only the records would show - maybe a Govt escort car!

The only thing that let the MK IV's down was the engine cooling, so they went pop/rattle. But that was caused by the cam gear stripping, or the oil pump drive would strip.
Ignorance of the symptoms was the biggest threat. But updated parts solved the problem.
That same engine in a Jetboat with plenty of water on tap to cool it, was legendary.
And they were a beautiful car to drive.

And the Mk IV was a 2700cc V6 with a 4 speed column change. They went well for a vehicle of its time apart from the overheating. The spare wheel was mounted in front of the motor which didnt help.
The 302 Ford was a common conversion for them.
