I went into repco, told the guy I blew a fuse the other day and the car wouldn't start.
"Do you have the car here!"

Like a transmission flush machine, just connect the the top and bottom and run liquid to it until the liquid coming out is clear. No mess, all contained in the machine.

Thanks to the magic of google, I can see it is a gimmick machine from our friends at Wynns.
Why is there not one for manual transmissions also!
Is there really a need for a machine to remove the oil in a situation where it all runs to the lowest point anyway! Unlike an auto, where half the fliud is sitting in the convertor, manual boxes and diffs can surely use gravity to get the oil out.

i had a lady come into my work the other day 2003 bmw 330 motorsport
says its low on oil i checked which warning light was on it was the coolant level warning and the temp was on very very hot
pop the bonnet and can smell cooking motor
had a look around at there was a hole blown in the expansion tank and the engine was dry
i told her that she would need to get it towed if its more than a 30 second drive
she told me she lived 15 mins away, then promptly got in her car and drove off

Why would you bother flushing a diff! 99% of them have magnetic sump bungs or a magnet in them to catch all the crap and whats left will come out when it is drained.
Had one today that had came in, engine light on dash and in limp mode. Found to be caused by a blown frost plug and leaking coolant causing it to go into limp mode and on this vehicle (Territory) they have a coolant preservation system to prevent damage to the block & cylinder head . if a radiator hose or similar blows . not a frost plug.
Guy didn't want to wait the 2 hours labour so decided it would be fine to drive back to Timaru, after all limp mode is there to prevent it from further damaging the vehicle . his exact words!

Back in the sixties I boughtnew Austin 60 van for work.It scrubbed out the left front tire in about 8000 miles - crossply in those days - so I got a new tire and took the van to the Austin agents from where I bought it, and asked them to realign the front wheels. The steering linkage included two radius rods to tie the front wheels together, but being a crap pommie vehicle only the right one was adjustable, so toe-in was set on that rod, which of course moved the centre position of the steering wheel. The fix was to take the steering wheel off and fit it to the spline so it was roughly level.I got the head mechanic, an 'expert' on Austin, who shook his head and said he could not adjust the left wheel as only the right one had any adjustment.Say what! I was flabbergasted!I said that adjusting the right tie rod would simply change the toe-in on both wheels, but he could not see it, and insisted that the left wheel was not adjustable. This guy was not only the head cheese, but part owner of the franchise as well! So I went home, got a length of timber, made a home-made trammel and did the bloody job myself.

I thought this one was a Joke until I was called in to the Bosses office He wanted me to replace the "Broken" cd rom I had installed in his computer 2 days earlier Get there drop a test CD in all fine and working Only to be told No the problem was he couldn't pop out the center of the disk tray Apparently the last drive had a hole in the center (as most do) and he used it to hold a coffee cup (Explained why a drive that was never used broke down in the first place) and my "your putting me on" response did a lead balloon impression
To top it all of he still insisted that I replace the drive with the "Correct type" so had no intention of changing what he was doing

I saw it happen once. At a auction there was a $5000 motorbike with a cardboard tag on its handlebar. It said 7100N. In the bustle I saw it & thought 'Theres something in that'. Later I noticed someone else see it. I didn't click then either.
Sooooooooooo. Auctioneer walks up to it, describes it, they start it up, sounds real nice, then coughs & stops. He shrugs & starts the auction, a bit slow at the start, then it warms up & it sells for $4400. Later on I walk past it & then notice the tag actually reads 'NOOIL' !

I used to work at a supermarket when I went to school and I was refilling the gladwrap, tinfoil etc. isle and a stoned as lady came up to me, as her bf was just steering at the cameras on the roof, and asks "ummm. whats the best sort of tinfoil for rolling tinnies!" hahaha I respond with "well this one says extra stong"

Ya, a few diffs are like that, like the front diffs on the Explorers as well. Normally end up pulling the whole cover off and giving it a brake clean on the inside as well then refitting the cover . would still be quicker then going through the hassle of a "diff flush" and do a much more thorough job!

Worked with a guy who had been in the car-trade for years, he had friends with two daughters, both blonde to the max.
One day, they come home, and say to the eldest, "Honey, we've bought you a car"
She, " What colour is it!"
They, "Wine"
She, "Red or white!".

But when those oil has not been changed for 10 years, even the little left-over oil sticking to the parts it lubricate or the surrounds of the containerwould be extremely dirty.Pouring new oil in and mixing it with the left-over would contaminate it instantly. It's like pouring milk out of a glass, do you ever get all the milk out of the cup! You have tipped it upside down, and it is running to the lowest point, you will never get all the dirty oil out.

So you remove the diff cover and clean it out properly. Ive never once heard of a diff flush machine being used.

Um--do you know how a diff works and the working parts of a diff! In comparisson to say an auto tranz or cvt tranz with clutch and band components that wear and contaminate the oil. For that matter in comparisson to an engine with the contamination of combustion. How much difference to even a fancy LSD do you think a teaspoon of old oil will make!
