If it makes a noise like driving on train tracks then there is something really wrong somewhere.
Can you get underneath and check your driveshaft for tightness, check the universal joints for play at least, check the rear axles. Ther might be a centre hanger on the driveshaft, check that for play. I think it'll be rubber mounted but it should be firm in the housing.

It only does it going in a straight line! I'll adjust the bearings and go from there then try the bit of wood next to the tyre to see if any deformation. The sound is a slow thud, like going over a bridge with a join every 5 or 10m if that's a better description.
