May be asking for trouble here but thought I would seek out what people thought.
I have a car listed - I am selling it on behalf of my Dad so apart from that have not financial interest in the car at all. This not a thread to promote the auction!
Just wanted to see what people thought would be a reasonable price for this car!I have my ideas and my dad does also - just want to see if that meets the market reality!

These low km ones are hard to price. $8,500 sounds good. May be worth more, but it's what people can also buy with that sort of money, that makes the difference. In saying that, I guess it's almost a new car, although being 7 years old. What are your thoughts on price and see whats available around that price to get some sort of idea.

Wow you expected more than $8500, are you basing your value on what people are asking or what they are selling for. A lot of vehicles sit here for a very long time with too high a asking price.

Jokes aside, I would say somewhere around $5500-6500. I know it's a 2005 year car, but it's the very last of a very long model run which began in 1996. You can tell it's still a 1996 era car by its out-dated at the time styling and the old dial type odometer. You can't compare it to the likes of a 2005 Honda Accord Euro, 2005 Mazda6 or 2005 Ford Mondeo because everything else of that era puts it to shame in terms of driving dynamics and safety. It should be compared with cars from the late 90s rather than mid-2000's.
The only good things it has going for it is that it's NZ-new, 5 speed manual and super low kms for a 7 year old car.

Not to mention that when MMNZ were still selling these things in 2005/2006 they were priced under $30,000, a good $10,000 less than the competition.

Basing it on what similar vehicles are listed for on here and then making some allowance for the fact they seem to be priced a wee bit high!
I guess the expectation of $10K is where I thought it sat - my dad would like more but I said that was realistically where I saw the value.
A quick look at Mazda 6 and Honda Euros seem to show that most are higher Ks and bigger dollars!

No way it's worth $10k - why would you spend $10k on that when you can getsomething like a Mondeo or an Accord Euro (with more kms though) which would be twice the car the Galant is. Where are the features a 2005 car should have in that Galant! Only two air bags, no stability control, no brake assist or electronic brake-force distribution. Not even a twin-cam engine!

Why are the odometer numbers wonky, surprised it does not have a digital one for a 2005 model.

I actually thought it was an older model not an 05. The right person may pay around 7-8k but It looks old even tho its mint! Those honda euros and mazdas you cant really compare prices. They have all the mod cons, Late model styling etc.

Well will go back to my dad and see what he wants to do - have re-listed it.In the end he does not have to sell it (he just bought a new Aurion) but he would like to get rid of it at some stage!
