Ok when Ive finished selling my stuff watch this space

I have bought cars on 'buy now' on the understanding that the auction description is accurate. This is after lots of dialogue with the vendor.

I once went from Kaitaia to Wellington to pick up a car.

My current car was ok but had a few more dents than shown in the pics. The vendor and I reached an amicable agreement.

I would only go this way after prior discussions with the vendor though.

and what if the vendor is a very good liar!

My view on this is this.
TM is an advertising media. Nothing more and nothing less.
As such all sellers set their own terms and conditions of sale.
By placing a bid you are agreeing to the terms and conditions.
If the seller doesn't specifically state in their auction that all viewing test drives, mechanical inspection to be before placing a bid then its reasonable to assume that any bid is subject to inspection.
However if it clearly states that inspection to be before auction close then the top bidder owns the car.
In fairness I have cancelled 2 sales in the past 12 months because the car I was selling had mechanical faults that apeared after auction start.

I agree, often interested buyers are in another part of the country and can't view the vehicle before auction end, so have to buy the vehicle sight unseen.indeed eBay doesn't make motor vehicle auctions binding for that reason.

I had one guy refuse to even provide me an address until I had paid him after I hit buy now.Probably should have gone with my gut feeling (bad) considering that my intention was just to go around there with cash rather than waste a day awaiting funds to clear etc.

Sure enough the car was a bit of a heap. Not a terminal heap, but quite rubbish. Not so bad that I wouldn't have honoured the buy now though.

buyer did not come to even view the car and when i called to lady i spoke to did not even know if her husband was coming to look at it or not USLESS!-

I'll say one thing for you, you sure dont muck about do you lol

angel_eyes_ef7, Aug 23, 8:15pm
THEY AGREED TO BUY IT THERE AND THEN SO I BOUGHT ANOTHER CAR NOW I HAVE A CAR I TRYING TO SELL AND A CAR IM TRYING TO PAY FOR AT THE SAME TIME

outbidyou2, Aug 23, 9:44pm
Good on ya mate yell and let it out.good one champ

kazbanz, Aug 23, 10:55pm
Why are you making YOUR mistake out to be their mistake!
YOU went ahead and purchased another car with money you diddn't have
Even within the TM "rules" pickup/contact is reasonably expected within 3 days not right away.
Its a VERY old car dealer saying." the deals not done untill the money is in the bin (bank)"

friendly_prawn, Aug 24, 4:29am
very well said!

budgel, Aug 24, 10:56am
I had reserved the right to withdraw if it didnt meet the description. No point in him lying. He had good feedback too. I ran the risk of a wasted trip, but my judgement of him was proven correct.

friendly_prawn, Aug 24, 11:19am
Ok so you actually physically checked out the car before handing over the $.That was the part I was wondering about.
cheers for clearing that up.
