the 2 second rule doesn't work in Auckland. if you try it 6 cars try to fill that gap & one of them will want to travel 15kph slower than the speed limit just to slow you down even more.

Sounds about right.
I lived in Auckland 2003 to 2006.
Five not-at-fault collisions in that time, and no at-fault ones. Two involved my car being written off. One of the lesser ones required panel & paint work. (The other two my British steel tow bar was my saviour - they don't like it up em!)
There are a lot of very incompetent drivers up there. That guy's experiences are not untypical. This story just reminded me why I left. Beautiful city, full of too many idiots.
