What is a good quality brand and where to buy in Hamilton

cjdnzl, Sep 7, 7:38pm
Get a set that has both Imperial and Metric sizes.Any automotive or engineering shop, and don't get the cheapest.

lordv81, Sep 7, 7:41pm
Go to Bunnings. There is an older guy there who knows alot about tools as I think he is one of those old school hardware store types. He stands by the lifetime warrenty and replacement even if you have no reciept or didnt even buy the tool from there just as long as they are dealers of the tool.He replaced a jig saw part by giving me a whole jig saw,I didnt even have to show him the broken part which was at home.More helpful than a bootload of Ripco monkies on speed.

ha!

billfisher1, Sep 7, 8:15pm
Bondus would be one of the better quality. Total trade tools or Wilson Saeco

tmenz, Sep 7, 8:22pm
Get some Bondhus ball-end. Expensive but very good.

tool_shop173, Sep 7, 8:30pm
We sell Bondhus, what are you after.

outbidyou2, Sep 7, 8:33pm
watch out for that no balls nark bellsie sue, he be reporting stuff like that. He the sheriff

skiff1, Sep 7, 8:38pm
Bondus or stahlwillie

cowlover, Sep 7, 9:27pm
I've got a very average no brand set that I've had for 30 years. They still doing the job.Unless you useing them every day can see littlepoint in spending big money on something like stahlwillie.

skiff1, Sep 7, 9:45pm
they joy of owning something that will out last me and maybe even my grand kids. I have tools inherited from grand fathers and just enjoy using them so much more than some soulless crap taiwan

franken1, Sep 7, 11:37pm
Bondhus are definitely one of the best brands. Can buy them at Tradezone, Blackwoods or Bay Engineers in Hamilton.

msigg, Sep 8, 5:26am
Yea as above , they must be hardened steel otherwise they are no good.

In some cases I would agree 100% with you but with allen keys -especially the smaller sizes I don't agree
I vote for Bondus too

mrfxit, Sep 8, 6:56am
Agree, those no brand (odd brand) chrome China/Taiwan1's are pretty bad.
Use twice, biff away

the-lada-dude, Sep 8, 6:59am
" unbrako "been around since adam was a boy

mrfxit, Sep 8, 6:59am
Yep same here, the problem is keeping track of them when the teenagers are around, (not that theres a single mechanical inclination in their heads, these days anyway)

lookoutas, Sep 8, 7:05am
We had a guy try out for an apprenticeship called Allen Keys.
We named him Wall - coz he was like talking to one.

tool_shop173, Sep 8, 7:47am
Thats a "T" handle set and also a Taiwanese set too. I dont think the OP was after a "T" handle set.

yendor, Sep 8, 4:10pm
I need some ball end metric ones.

tool_shop173, Sep 8, 7:32pm
Do you want me to set up an auction for a bondhus metric set !

Mine are old enough to not be a cheap knockoff. So like just about everything these days cheap is rubbish.I'd be inclined to get a middle of the road set and if you find there is one or two sizes you use a lot once the one you have rounds off then just buy those sizes in real good ones.

ola_bitchola1, Sep 8, 8:02pm
i use a kingchrome set from bunnings for work and they get used and abused week after week and the bonus is they seem to be a bit longer than the normal ones they are the blue and chrome ones

oh and i found the kingchrome ones better than the bondus set i was using previously
