well, we have looked at several today, two x ss and a calais, got to say after looking at the calais, although it is nice it just is too boring, so looks like its going to be one of the ss.

I love V8s etc etc etc, but you might need to re-do your maths there mate. 7l/100km = 700L of petrol per 1000km = $1575 @ $2.25L 9L/100km (on a dead flat, perfectly clear road.) = 900L @ $2.25L = $2025 $450 difference over 1000km, that's a significant saving. I'd still take the V8
My money, I'd buy an SS, in manual, then fit some tasy bits (headers, nice exhaust, MAFless tune etc) and have HSV power, cheaper, with a less silly looking car.
No Jazz, just no. The V8 dunnydores and A6 are not comparable, yes the A6 has a nicer put together interior, yes it rides/drives well, but it has no penis at all (which is what 99% of Holdoford buyers want, big wang)

If you were to use 700L / 900L of petrol wouldn't it be per 10 000kms. !

I was looking at that thinking the maths was wrong but couldnt see it! Was nearly ready to sell the V8. So the difference would come down to $45 per 1000km, not so bad.

Sorry mate but you wouldn't make a good accountant. BTW this weekend my 5.4 V8 falcon towing single axle trailer with cast iron small block chev and GM g.box returned 10.4l/100km between akld-wellington, 100-110kmh the whole way I bet ya a cramped unsafe boring jappa 2.0 would be returning the same figure with the same load and driving style, if not then worse.

I would go for the Calais personally. Sure its weighed down with a lot of extra crap but the luxury is well worth it IMO. At my age I prefer to enjoy where I am going by having the nicest ride possible. Plus the Calais with the LSX is not exactly a slouch and it does not take much money to get a lot more power out of them.
