Apparently WOF changes won't save you any money?!

leave it at six months. thats my view. i mean a nz new car has yearly WOF's for 5 years! get one in the last month and its 6 years before it goes onto 6 monthly. Bear in mind, my last courier van had clocked up almost 700,000 kms by that time.
Id much rather know that other vehicles on the road around me have been checked in the last 6 months at least.
No system for this is foolproof. there will always be those that flaunt the law.

The thing i think we would maybe see more of thou, is an increase of cars being oulled over in the 11th month of their wof, and the car defect list being "tail light out, $150", "tyre not warrentable $150", "wipers not up to WOF standard", "Oil leak $150", etc etc etc you get the idea. Those that "rely" on their 6 monthly WOF to correct these things would end up "getting caught out", as there are regulars who do a 6 month service and wof as habit.

I feel maybe their focus could be on emmisions testing for WOF's/COF's, and maybe driver "education" on basic car care.

amazing how people seem to drive around for weeks with a blown lowbeam, not noticing, or a semi flat tyre for days on end.

Well, thats my 2 cents worth
