MTA are the going to loose profits big time over this, thats why they compain to keep at 6mths, sastistics show nz is out of par with the rest of the world as far as wof are concerend. I would love to see MTA release a forecast if the changes are made, I bet there will be a huge loss in profit unless goverment imposes strict regulations on testing equipment like a must for brake rollers and emission testing, then any wof agency will have to comply, then cost might exceed demand.

The bit MTA is not telling you is this:
75% of NZ vehicle fleet is older than 12 years anyway which under the new/proposed legislation will still have 6 month warrants.and under the current and proposed legislation a WoF doesn't mean car owners don't have to continually ensure their car is roadworthy.

so were did you find these stats from MTA! I think nzta have the correct figures as MTA will only release figures/make them up to stop the changes coming into effect, there all aboult profit, stastics around the world show it wont make a difference. Its a bit like all the hype with changing the road rules when people said there will be more road accidents when the changes came into effect.

I have no idea what this means.I THINK what you're saying is that under the new rules a car will not have to be kept up to standard between inspections. That is just plain wrong.
You're on here trying to beat up business, but making yourself look like a fool in the process. Good luck.

Britain & the USA you say!
Well, they are very similar driving populations - what an excellent comparison - I thought you might have added Paraguay / The Netherlands & possibly North Korea as well however!
