the Ford, the Ranger series is a great vehical, reliable & can take a bit of a hiding. our company fleet was all Toyota but over the past few years we've become less satisfied with the offerings in the commercial market from Toyota. we bought one new Mazda BT50(Ford Ranger clone) at the same time as our last Hi Lux as a comparision as the Toyota fail was becoming obvious at that time, that mazda has out performed the Toyotas in ecconomy, maintenace costs & the interior has held up heaps better with less broken plastic bits. we will not upgrade any of our fleet with Toyotas anymore.

Why are you looking at those two only!
Surely the fun of buying a brand new car is looking at everything in the segment!

Ranger, go for the auto, but be prepared for a wait ( Up to 6 months for a wide track, our local ford dealer has pages of orders.

an Amorok! been there, done that, never in a million years would i buy one of these POS's. you have to slip the clutch so much just to get them moving & thats without any weight on board, slam the hood shut & you think you've just dented it since it's so flimsy. not my choice, ever!

I'd go for the Ford but for what its worth you should have look at Great Wall, they are very well sorted now and you get the same spec for well under 30K

The new Ranger is quite a big step up over previous models. Get him to drive both and I'm sure he'll be swayed over by the Ranger! There is a bit of a wait though, I know all our stock was sold through to December last month.
Also worth trying out the latest Nissan (Navara!) and also the Amorak. The Amorak is a bit more expensive though but is nice to drive.

why does the new ranger have that ever so slight dead spot (like a lull) after changing gears. manual. It didnt seem to matter how i was with the gas or clutch it still had it! I guess its intentially there as it got faark all kms on it. Anyone!
