Just read this OP heading again.A 36mm deep, socket, or a 36mm, deep socket!.Ho hum. The joys of the English language.

Hub nut sockets are usually only around $30-40 (Powerbuilt or other similar brand)

I got a complete set from 30 - 38mm for $120, and they were impact ones as well. George Henry usually good for prices, get good trade discounts there too. Not sure if they have one up your ways though

Ditto, I've never seen one over 32mm that wasn't 3/4"

Gosh on the English correction spree today I see.

There are travelling tool shop vans like Sulco where you can buy anything from them and they will call at the door, I have added to my garage range using this method. However you will pay a premium price for that socket as I did for CV nuts in 3/4" drive! (30mm, 32mm, 38mm)
I don't know of any other travellers but forum members may be able to help.

So a 36mm is going to be cheap lol

Same - just had a look in tool kit, Powerbuilt brand.I think I needed to get on the phone to track these down.
If removing axle nuts was going to be a regular thing, I think I'd get 3/4" drive sockets. Some of the ones I've done with 1/2" drive, by the time you get enough extension (your full weight bouncing on about 1.5 metres of extension) to crack the nut, it's got to be very close to breaking even a high quality breaker bar.I've struck worse on my old 4WD - transfer case output shaft nut was a challenge.Local non-4WD workshop couldn't budge it with rattle gun, 4WD workshop let me use his gear in exchange for a a case of beer, but it still took the weight of two of us on a 2.5 meter extension to crack it.
Maybe some of the chinese 3/4 drive sets sold at Supercheap etc are okay.I've been tempted to buy a set, but the thought of what might happen when a cheap chinese socket or breaker bar shatters under full load gives me the heebeejeebs.

Don't touch the super cheap 3/4 drive stuff its junk, the 36mm socket i bought is 1/2 inch drive and i always use a 1/2inch ratchet instead of breaker bar and i use the leg off my engine crane for a lever bar, my ratchet out does the breaker bar and its SWG/Calibre brand so when i stuff the gearing i take it back and get a new one, don't even need a receipt as its there brand backed with lifetime warrantyproblem solve $150 socket set and im on my 5th ratchet haha

johnf_456, Nov 4, 6:02pm
I do that, its fantastic. Lifetime warrantys rock!

mugenb20b, Nov 4, 6:05pm
Yes.but not quite. It's not YOUR lifetime, it's the tool's lifetime, which is often 12 months.

johnf_456, Nov 4, 6:10pm
Not in my EXPERIENCE it isn't with tools, as above I take it back with no proof of purchase and get a swap. The local supercheap is not far and they know me well. I never said my lifetime either!

mugenb20b, Nov 4, 6:28pm
I know that. I'm just saying, 'sometimes' when you buy 'some' tools that come with "lifetime warranty", it relates to the tool's lifetime, not the entire time you own it. But, yes, most tools will get replaced by the supplier if they have a lifetime warranty. Every time I had a Powerbuilt ratchet f.k out, it was never meant to be replaced, but Repco don't want me buying tools elsewhere, so they replaced it for me every time. They know me very well too ;)

johnf_456, Nov 4, 6:32pm
Yup agreed, no skin off my nose when I get a new replacement at no charge.

mugenb20b, Nov 4, 6:36pm
Yeah.all hell breaks loose if my tools don't get replaced. Last year, I bought a Snap On screwdriver set for around $380, and was told that shafts have a lifetime warranty, but handles don't. WTF!!

smac, Nov 4, 6:39pm
So if you ever break a handle, bend the shaft and take it back.

johnf_456, Nov 4, 6:40pm
Handles don't what the hell, so half and half what the!

mugenb20b, Jan 30, 5:12am
Shafts are pressed into the handle. You put the shaft in the vice and gently tap the handle off.I've replaced one already.
