Bought an E30 bmw. The glovebox latch was broken. Today I drilled it out to get it open and found a pile of fines inside the glovebox. I just did a quick sum cause I found his papers from the police with the record of fines starting from 1996. Anyone want to guess how many fines this guy had over the years!
The number will not disappoint.

The BALANCE while he was still paying it off was $14,000 at one point. That's not a gross sum. Just to give you an idea of how many fines we are talking

Wow. more than $23k
$36k!
At what point does the law stop dishing out fines the person is obviously not learning from, nor can afford to pay and properly deal with these muppets!

Out of interest. what are the fines for! Just a brief and general list otherwise you could be typing all night haha

Close enough that I'll call you the winner. $31,085
Also obligatory. Cracked cylinder head and all. Was none too healthy.
Driving without a licence, no warrent, no reg, careless driving causing injury, court imposed extras, speeding, unaccompanied learner driver, failure to display L plate, parking fines left unpaid that went to court, driving with bald tyres.
That covers most of it, just repeat offending OVER AND OVER. Especially unlicensed driver, went on for years

It's in the shed sitting around slowly revealing to me more broken stuff. The $1500 worth of work done to it recently I found in the glovebox was nice though. If he used it on his fines instead it would of almost made a noticeable dent.maybe.

Yes, and why would you want to buy a car from a loser like that! It must have been rolled, bowled and arse'oled.

Funnily enough there are a bunch of receipts for work done and stuff from him. I think he just kept changing vehicles when the cops recognised the car he drove. Obviously never kept rego on them, cop dials the plate, expired, no wof or whatever then hits the red n blues. I dunno how he had any money, unsure if he had a job or if this was all "on the house"

Slack justice system.Sorry, but even one unpaid fine is one too many.Slap with a wet bus ticket justice system for all the wrong people.Far too much emphasis on hitting Nana for doing 55kph/105kph on a holiday weekend instead of getting these pillocks off the road.

Dont worry - its not 'real money'
In a strange bloodless (I mean moneyless) transaction my apprentice had 15K wiped off his fines via WINZ & the NZ Court system when he started - I know the money never existed - much like the fines actual worth, but it makes you think - well, it should. The golden handshaking going on between the courts & winz in NZ must be in the trillions by now.

Pretty much. It's staggering though that he could get that many fines and nothing is being done except adding to the total he's probably having paid off for him. So let's assume he is a deadbeat on welfare (not a stretch of the imagination) and that money is being taken off his weekly payout. It's not going back into the economy at the local grocery or whatever, it's just being shuffled around from system to system.
Add to that the fact that everytime I've been to a courthouse or police station and it's just complete write off of my time it doesn't stand to give you much faith in the real morons being kept away from everyone else.

Gutless judge up here wiped about $30,000 from a kid (nother slow learner) cause he reckoned there was no way the kid could pay it back. What the hell is that teaching the little snots!

I was not having a go at TA I am sure the seller did not advertise the fact he had a past
A friend of mine is a policewoman in QLD if the kids do one crime, they may as well do ten, as they are getting cumlative charges, very frustrating for the police
