And some people wonder how food gets to the supermarket, its because lots of people including me sit on tractors for hours a day producing food. Now tell us why tractors suck.

Typical JAFA, have you ever seen a tractor or know what one does!.

Aww guys, go easy. I dont think he actually meant tractors suck. We all love things that go 'chug, chug, chug' & burn fuel, no matter what they are. And I think deep down we are just jealous we haven't got a tractor. I had one once(Fergy 25) coolest thing.

Not on a BMC 460 I hope. not that there was anything wrong with them, but they are getting a bit old these days.

Good motors those. Overhauled a few tractors, and in boats they are nice and smooth, unlike the ford equivalents. I .had a 345 in a boat for a while and it was a little beauty.
bmc460,
Nov 19, 7:15pm
Ive got a 1042,its the same motor as 345.

Oh, hadn't heard of that as a model. And so what sort of collection do you have!
My son has filled my workshop up with 3 listers, 2 cs' and a d, 2 andersons, 2 JAPs, a baby one and a larger generator. 2 marine coventry victors with consecutive engine numbers, 10, 12 and 15 series villiers, plus lots of spares. and a whole lot of old motors and parts I'm not too sure about.

Ha. cool. gotta have interests huh.
The lad used to help out at the local vintage machinery and tractor museum. He used to go down and help out for a week or two before the live day and the owner and he would get everything running sweet and then on the day the boss used to put him in charge of all the stationary motors. which was pretty trick given he was only thirteen the first time he did it, and there were heaps of volunteers of all ages up to about seventy there to help for the day.
The lad's lister cs' are beautiful old motors. Start and chuff away all day with hardly a sound. and they run on waste oil. hehe, well the one we use for a generator is anyway.
So do you display your collection BMC!
mechnificent,
Nov 19, 8:50pm
Yeah but you know how it goes. he's left home and left me with the motors and his dog.
mechnificent,
Nov 19, 8:51pm
And BMC. is the mastif a single cylinder engine! Or am I confusing that with something else.
bmc460,
Nov 20, 3:44am
Ahh no its a v8 perkinsdiesel,185 hp.I sometimes take my tractors to edendale crankup.
mechnificent,
Nov 20, 6:01am
Oh, ok. that sounds wicked. There is a huge single cylinder vintage tractor unit. might be called a bulldog or something like that then. my son wanted one for years. Then he also wants a cat 22.
I had to call the line somewhere though.
