The spindle is attached at the top for and aft on the inner guard, and in relation to the lower single attachment point adjusts castor - evenly applying shims between the two top anchorages adjusts camber, unevenly applying shims adjusts castor, methinks.

Have you done this all on a W/A Machine and tested afterwards! Camber and Castor have direct relation to each other due to the susp setup on these. You adjust one you adjust the other at the same time.
I'm assuming you haven't fitted any aftermarket parts/arms etc, only put Camber shims in behind the top mounts on the guard.

Also how could you read it as "fitting adjustable camber arms" as you said "Falcon's are known for chopping the front insides" and afaik adjustable camber arms won't work of the front of a Falc.

You said you fitted adjustable camber kits. (And I have seen aftermarket suspension setups which do have all adjustable camber/castor arms etc along with ride height adjustment etc.)

I'm leaving you to it now unbeatabull as it seems you are going to be unbeatable :)

I will remember this for future reference though ;)

Careful unbeatabull, looks like your are being added to the grooming list of the motoring MB stalker.

Yes smac, cornering is what the differential is designed for, short periods of loading. The effects and therefore loading is constant when tyres are mismatched. "Buy a better product" save your digs for those with cheap rides.

Should I be worried!

Wasn't a dig, I have no idea what you drive. I just meant that if indeed there is a set-up out there that will have it's life shortened by a few mm difference in rolling circumference, I'd suggest going for something else. I doubt whoever said it had actual first hand knowledge, more likely just repeating something they heard.

Only if you are prone to meltdowns and in doing so forget the trademe message board rules.
That is what this and a couple of other of his ilk do, circling around like vultures waiting for a chance to report you so you get banned.
Sadly this has caused some of the most helpful posters on here to abandon these boards, it is not just motoring message board either.

Subs are bad for this smac there is a little nylon bush that cost aprox $600 to fix easier to buy 4 tyres at a time and yes I have first hand knowledge of this

Good call Phillip. Thats exactly what they bought out the TZ700 for.

if you have an LSD In the centre, like a lot of awd vehicles do, then it will bind up when you have two different tyre circumferences front to rear. If it was an open diff then it probably wouldn't matter at all.

Huh, how 'bout that. In that case I stand by what I said.go for a different product.
I realise rotating tyres and getting even wear isn't rocket science, but it does seem to be an odd issue to have. It also seems to mean that if you live on twisty roads, exactly the type of country their advertising says they excel at, it'll wear out faster.!

Was the first time I had heard it, sounded like it had some sound reasoning, why I asked was had anyone heard of mismatched tyres actually causing mechanical damage to vehicle! As opposed to unsafe braking characteristics.
"Repeating something they heard" Yep, my thoughts also. I did however replace all 4 tyres, was going to anyway.
Back to the original posters question, the first two sets of tyres on my current car were Bridgestone got 85,000km and 92,000km from them. Currently about 15,000km into a set of GT Radials and seem very similar. I have driven Goodyear before and found them good also.

Thanks splinter67 - good to know the tyre guy was not bluffing.

Maybe you should learn how to drive low traction conditions require more care than dry tarseal

Thanks for all the interesting feedback to my original question at start of thread.Obviously differing opinions are common place. My wagon now has 4 brand new Firestone TZ700 tyres fitted.Nice and quiet, and a reassuring feel as the car feels secured to the road.Fantastic!
