Thanks for the comments. Will probably just see how it goes for a while and if it gets too annoying, look at getting the hatch repainted. The car was quite highly polished when bought as a fresh import just over a year ago and we haven't waxed it since then, but I may have used a wash and wax detergent at one stage, can't really remember.

Yip, but some just moan about anything. As long as its prepped before its not an issue.

Clear coat peeling huh. There are many suggestions for your problem. However you have to ask. Why is it peeling. If it is confined to one panel it more than likely has been touchd up and now for many reasons its peeling.
If you spot repair again you again have to ask. Was the rest of that panel stable or was it going to peel as well. If you just sand the area and touch up odds are it will continue to peel as you didnt fix the whole problem.
When we get peeling clear we strip off all the clear, simple as that. You very very rarely see a problem with the base coat so if its not flaking or damaged we prime the lot then paint.
The colour has nothing to do with it peeling.
Since its on a small hatch lid I would strip all clear and start again.
As for fish eyes, can't say Ive had many issues since BC CC systems came out.You learn how ya paint works and go from there. I never apply a wet heavy first BC coat. I find if I do it does give issue sometimes.
Back in the Dulon days it was daily fight for some reason.
Maybe no one waxes there cars down here!

Yes it is justa small area, the hatch has a small ledge under the rear window and the peeling is just a couple of small spots about 15mm across on one end of the ledge. I was interested in your comment that the colour has nothing to do with it peeling, because you do seem to see this sort of thing more on the darker colours, i.e red, dark blue, dark green!

It does look like that but it does cross the spectrum of car colours. There has been much discussion within the industry as to the cause of peeling clearcoat, regardless of the cause the conclusion as to the repair is the same. Remove all the clear from the affected panel, reprime, paint and clear everything else is tempory.
