1990 L200 ute 2.6 Astron, 240k. Little use apart from 20 k round trips. Noticed foam on lower end dip stick. Nothing under oil filler cap. Just getting ready to do 200 k round trip, any need to panic.yet. Thanks for replies. (Suspected head gasket or cracked block for a while but only run around town and take dogs out so not been a worry).

Why not do a TK test to confirm it

carmedic, Nov 26, 6:55am
That confirms combustion gases into coolant, not coolant into oil, oil into coolant or coolant into cylinders for that matter.

splinter67, Nov 26, 6:58am
Is there any foam in the radiator

barrie2, Nov 26, 7:13am
No foam in radiator, expansion 'bottle' or under filler cap. Just re-checked it after two hours and foam on dipstick gone!

timmo1, Nov 26, 7:17am
Is it 'foam' or just yellow-ish goopy oil stuff!

intrade, Nov 26, 7:26am
running round town is no good for any car no matter what make . when it never gets hot. i would drain the oil and filterand fill with cheapest oil from a car parts place and see how it goes after. and run it warm befor draining propperly.Car should also run warm long distance once a week no matter what car it is. rotted exhaust pipe is another problem of not running car hot all the time.

splinter67, Nov 26, 7:30am
Jeeze intrade this one is better than the d4 debacle do you think before you post

kazbanz, Nov 26, 7:35am
AHH SHADDUP --I hadn't had my coffee yet.
Of course you are right.

kazbanz, Nov 26, 7:41am
Sorry mon but burried in that post is what I would have posted if I was awake.
Most likely =unless you have other symptoms Id give the vehicle an oil n filter change because the white stuff might be the water not burned off due to the vehicle not getting hot.

intrade, Nov 26, 7:43am
yea i do but do you!
i got 8 cars each one gets to run for 30 minutes before i shut it off again for another 2 years . and everyone starts at the turn of the key years later. if you dont run a engine hot you cause condensation and it wont evaporate= seezed pistons rusted out exhaust. the lot.
Yes i sure do think more then you do i would say.

doug207, Nov 26, 8:14am
Let it sit, re-check oil. If the level is too high the crank will be slicing through it and aerating the oil, hence, foam

johnf_456, Nov 26, 8:23am
Do you always have to have a digg at him constantly.

therafter1, Nov 26, 8:36am
Sounds like Mayonnaise, is the vehicle running at the correct operating temp! . And as Intrade says, if the vehicle is doing a lot of short runs and not getting a good run at least weekly at open roads speeds for reasonable periods of time then mayonnaise will accumulate in the engine. The Mitsi??

splinter67, Nov 26, 8:39am
Have you seen the rubbish that the poster concerned has posted in the last 2 days

johnf_456, Nov 26, 8:47am
there is that old saying, if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it.

splinter67, Nov 26, 8:51am
Have a look at the d4d problems thread youll see its a bit more than pulling his leg got to love the google mechanics

sabbath-black, Nov 26, 9:11am
.one day someones gunna invent an engine that runs on bulls@#T.an you ma'am are gunna be filthy rich

therafter1, Nov 26, 10:12am
Oh right, so you prefer that people are told a whole lot of namby pamby horse manure because that??

johnf_456, Nov 26, 10:15am
I would be careful with PC here, sure outside of here I am very different. But you might want to tame it down to avoid the dog box. But if you like the dog box by all means go for it, trademe won't see it the way you and i see it.

I think the same but bite my tounge.

therafter1, Nov 26, 10:21am
Yes, I have already been watching that thread. Intrade is O/K and his heart is in the right place, all he wants to do (as do most of us and that is a big part of the reason for contributing) is help others, sometimes he is on the money, sometimes not. We can all be the same in certain situations and sometimes it is easier to take the posts of others with a grain of salt than it is to engage in long drawn out keyboard arguments. I most certainly don??

splinter67, Nov 26, 10:33am
Your right he is trying to help but his info is sometimes flawed he like bellky should stop using google as his source of information. Intrade and I had a great discussion on the chevy volt. Problem is I dislike people talking rubbish and I will tell them face to face I don't need to hide behind my keyboard

bellky, Nov 26, 10:36am
You are more of a culprit than anyone.

bellky, Nov 26, 10:38am
As for you, you seem to have a lot to say but I'm yet to see any substance.

splinter67, Nov 26, 10:40am
look here is the other google mechanic hmm do you really want to start with me have a look at your offset wheels again dud
