yep that's why I said you would couldn't ya pull in ya lada or was there to much of that going on

gunhand, Dec 13, 4:33pm
This statement gives me the idea you really have no idea just how many different parts (part) are available for just one car. For one model year for one type of car you could have 6 CV joints to choose from for that one model. You can have several brake pads available as well for just one model, and not just the same ones but different brands.
Its never quite as simple as rocking up and saying I want XYZ part for my ABC car as there could be and is more than one part that could fit. Even model number etc etc dosn't help at times, narrows the search yes but you still may get 6 plus choices.
There is even a huge brake pad book with the outlines of the pads that sometimes was all you could match against if all else failed.
I think those who comment need to actaully do a few days (even then you would see SFA) and just get to know the difficaulty parts can be.
Sure if drive a falcon or holden that uses the same pads, filters and disc rotors since 1929 its not so hard.

thanx, i should mention i am a girl who is completely clueless about cars, i had to ask the grumpy man at the garage to show me which dipstick was for the oil as it has two and my old car didn't, and neither said oil so .

lookoutas, Dec 13, 6:49pm
Learn to spell man - It's "sew ewe have spears"

thunderbolt, Dec 13, 6:59pm
Even with "Oscars" help there are many choices aye Gun.

gunhand, Dec 13, 7:06pm
Can be, but they always seemed a bit more basic and parts were same form year to year, not 6 of the same bloody thing for one year.Primeras were bad for multi choice of parts. Used to just gringe when 10 things showed as possable fit.
Half the mechanics didnt even know what they wanted (or correct model) but excpected staff to no what fitted what for all cars and every spline count for every CV.
Has anyone ever givin any thought into how many parts go into ONE car.

cypherboy, Dec 13, 7:09pm
Yeah, your average car has around 30,000 individual components.
