If you wind up with faded rear lights or a clear repair, Tamiya make an amazing paint that is easy to apply and looks the part.
Its only about $6 for a tiny bottle (10ml!) but that little bottle will do 2 complete lenses easily.
I forget what number paint it is but could probably find a bottle in my shed and find out if someone was stuck.
Its self leveling, transparent and easy to apply, looks surprisingly factory, can't recommend it enough.
Edit. just in case someone doesn't realise, Tamiya make model cars and stuff, so you get the paint from a model shop. Oh and there is likely an orange and other colours too, I just have never needed them.

It is usually the other dingbats who can't park who wreck your tail lights or the supermarket trolley dollies who don't care.

i have found that glueing the patch on the inside of the lense looks a lot tidier and is more likely to be watertight, take the tail light out remove the bulb, get a piece of appropriately colored lens about five mill bigger than your hole all round, cover it in glue (both sides) drop it in the bulb hole, manouvere it around with a pencil till its in the right spot, usually helps to hold it in place under pressure fo a while. finding a good glue is the tricky bit, some super glues seem to work and others dont for some reason, but for three bucks a tube its worth a shot.

Sounds like a good plan.
