For the last upteen years we've had a small hole in our taillight. For a few years I put clear duct tape over it and it always got WOFs. Now, new WOF guy and he failed the car on it. Does Supercheap/Repco do a tape for the taillights! Is it just the same as red electrical tape!

you have to glue a part from asame colour light in the hole and it must be water tight . I use poliurethan glue builders stuff to glue things inn by fosrock or now sikaflex i think superbond poliuretan glue.

What sort of vehicle! Some car tailights are cheap as to replace

trogedon, Dec 17, 3:26pm
Ok, so if I got a piece of broken taillight, shaped it to fit and glued it in that would be fixed! Its only a little hole - less than a 10 cent piece.

trogedon, Dec 17, 3:36pm
Yeah, but like $30 is $30! (I just found one for that but I'd rather just plug the hole)

Troggy if white light shows at the back its a fail.
You can buy tailight "lens" tape from super sheep but thats $10.00
You could look to do a contra deal with one of your customers. They might have a watch that stopped going.

saxman99, Dec 17, 4:29pm
How much of your time does $30 buy!

Black silicon will do it - as long as no white light to rear its a pass ASIK

e to add:saw a van the other day that had an old round pushbike type reflector glued onto the taillight.I guess was over a hole.

desmodave, Dec 17, 4:51pm
Do you not have a part tail light you could give him to go with a little bit of black paint Kaz. I hope no cyclist or motorcycle ridersrun up ya arse due to you skimping on car maintenanceTroggy.

I could jump over his fence at night.
Good to see you've got bicycle riders in mind DD.

I fix tail light lens with a soldering iron, shape a bit and weld it in

desmodave, Dec 17, 5:08pm
Always, i never trust the buggers, just like dogs on the side of the road.

trogedon, Dec 17, 5:09pm
Woof, woof.

rudimon, Dec 17, 5:16pm
why is it that the glue will stick the bit of plastic to your fingers but not to the bloody tailight!

rob_man, Dec 17, 5:22pm
Make a tight fit patch from another old light and superglue it in. You can sand and polish it if you feel energetic.

rob_man, Dec 17, 5:57pm
Wow. invisible repair.

lazzo, Dec 17, 6:32pm
For goodness sake, just replace the entire lens. Scrooge. :))

trogedon, Dec 17, 6:36pm
But what if we break the new one! ;-(

lazzo, Dec 17, 6:41pm
Some wee man in China will still be making them!

trogedon, Dec 20, 7:30pm
Ok, I've spared no expense on this car. I got an excellent secondhand taillight for $30 and I got another secondhand tyre. The guy said $70, I went to pay him and he said I'm a good customer (turning up every couple of years) so he made it $65. Tomorrow I'll fit the light and get the WOF.

socram, Dec 21, 6:37pm
Slightly off, but I converted my old park lights to indicators and painted the inside of the clear glass with Tamiya clear orange paint.Tamiya also do a clear red paint so if you have to glue in clear plastic, paint it with clear red.

trogedon, Dec 21, 8:48pm
If I had a girlfriend my wife.

trogedon, Dec 21, 8:49pm
Good idea. Wonder how long it will last. I've got some of the clear red & orange for models.
