Hmmm you have troubles with all the garages around town. Maybe it's actually that the garages all have trouble with you - you sound like one of "those" customers
carmad50,
Dec 19, 10:42am
woodrow now why would that be that you d jump to that conclusion hmm, do tell
a.woodrow,
Dec 19, 10:43am
I think if you push that you'll probably find no-one will be interested in helping you out, there's plenty of easier customers to do jobs for
a.woodrow,
Dec 19, 10:44am
Well because I am in the industry (in Invercargill) and it's a small town .
carmad50,
Dec 19, 10:48am
yerp its a small townthat dosent mean that tradesmen treat their customers like that last minute he d had a week , been booked in for, went there monday confirmed they d be here to pick it up yerp andwell what other excuse is there , they re not that busy , kust came past the garage concerned and no have nt named them yet

If your attitude in real life is anything like what it comes accross on here, its nowonder mechanics give you grief. I wouldnt want to do your work either.
hi-ling,
Dec 19, 11:04am
Sounds like your right, I was going to offer my services, but customers like that I dont need
splinter67,
Dec 19, 11:06am

OP hasn't even bothered to say what the pump is on, or who diagnosed the fault.
Is it to be replaced with a new pump and filter, and will the A Grade mechanic need to offer a 5 year warranty!
carmad50,
Dec 19, 11:18am
hey now if I d stuffed you around in last week beforeeverything shuts down in a small town and that stuffed your plans up you d be peeved as well and what no excuses , one of those customers I m not ,I pay my bills am up front to folks simple , most people in invers the same if n you dont want the job fine say so up front . 4 years of tech ,then the hands on train9ig in a workshop all sorts of customers good n bad ones ,youre supposed to be tradesmen proffessional , I would nt want you working on my vehicle if youre not qualified , jobs simple easya hour n half tops no tax if you mecanics are all that busy with work thinkI will be doing the job myself .I ve worked in the indistry too and in lots of industries around new zealand and australia , your customers arent stupid you know

My 5 cents worth . I reckon there is some merit in what he is saying. Probably how he is saying it makes him sound like a dick but none the less .throwing work into an arena and asking for interested parties to apply - this is how work is 'let' in a competitive environment. I wonder if there is a medium where punters can advertise that they have work available! I know what he's saying about tradies in general also . probably more so electricians and plumbers (when you are in a bind) but I guess if you were not mechanically minded or apt - it could extend to bad experiences with know it all grease munkee's and AVI's. Hmmmm.

thunderbolt no just replace the fuel pump in the fuel tank , carpets rolled back , a new pumps on the way from auckers, I replaced the fuel filter then the pump died , checked the fuses , all good , fuel pump not clicking must be stuffed , no other reason for it unless you have other ideas! have few mecanical knowledged mates too have run it past andsearched workshop manual as well . workshop manual says drop tank to remove , other s say roll back carpet remove inspection plateundo screws and hose s and smak it sideways with hammer and lift up ,one fuel pump and sender unit other way is simple and not a lot v time involved in undoing the 8 boltson the tank cover , ten bolts on the fuel lines , and then the tank bolts itself and lowering tank down to ground undo screws ,smak the sender unit sideways and lift up the pump and sender unit , replacements the reverse and of course the batteries disconected , tools required yerp got most of them dont have a compressor or rattle gun tools , who ever takes job welcum to help finish off box ve woodies with me afterwards , cant be more than a hundred bucks easy untaxed for that

warranty lols only if it dosent work and there s not much that s gona do that , if its something else then Ill call a auto sparky to sus it, warrantys on thepump being sent down 30 days
carmad50,
Dec 19, 11:46am
tradey yerp thats about it no im not a dick , done my research too and time allowed is heaps really ,I ve done my time in various industries and in aussy we had a time alowance book that we charged by i e if it took 16 hours to remove and replace a v4 volvo engine then that s what we charged out at. the 16 hours if it took longer then we charged the equilent amount . seems it ll be me doing the job as the mecanics in invers are all so busy and seem to be in their own lil network of who they want as customers and whom they dont , way to go . how long they stay in business when the word gets around is another storysmall town community and all
carmad50,
Dec 19, 11:48am
the vehicle s dosent need to be named really there reallly should nt be a problem getting a mecanic whos actually qualified to do the job and yet there is ,merry xmas anyway
andrea_w,
Dec 19, 11:49am
Sure. faulty relay, faulty wiring Have you even checked for power at the pump! This a grade mechanic you get may be completely wasting his time if you haven't diagnosed it correctly
andrea_w,
Dec 19, 11:50am
Actually, it does. Different cars can require specific tools .and some cars a mechanic just won't want to touch for various reasons, especially as a perk job
noswalg,
Dec 19, 11:54am
I don't get it, the time you're wasting bleating on here could be time spent on doing it yourself, so why don't you just do it!
