So what you are really saying is that you have fiddled around with it but had no success. You don't want to admit that you are lost, all based on the diagnosis of your mate down the pub. You now want a proper mechanic to repair it, but you want a proper job done cheaply, while at the same time being able to claim involvement in the repair. Also you refuse to reveal the make/model/year. And you have mentioned using a rattle gun to change a fuel pump.
Best of luck mate!

Why dont you ring a 'Hometune' or other mobile mechanic dude! Or ring the local Tech. Tell em about the hundy & woodies, they'll be round like a shot. With you supervising pops, why do they have to be qualified.

sas no what Im saying is Ive had it diagnosed by a qualified person and have checked that there arent any other things that would stop the pump from working other than it being buggered, mate at the pub! no he works for a business in town but theyre flat tack with vehicle repairs , vehicle make and model would nt should nt make a difference and a rattle gun would just bea quicker way of undoing the bolts mentioned a philips screwdriver undoes the sender and fuel pump where there s other bits like the hoses and wiring which also was checked for power supply . im not a dummy , I have worked in garages but Im not qualified and dont know everything hencehave referred to the vehicles 2 workshop manuals of a vehicle being taken apart and put back together again and yes I want a qualified mecanic to work on my vehicle because there s far too many backyarder unqualified folk doing the jobs for others in town and thats dam dangerous when there s fuel involved , safety first aye

dr doolittle , havent seen or heard of any mobile mecanic like you say or I would of, havent been to the pub in years as if I asked at the local I d only get wanna bees and not qualified mecanic and I would nt be supervising other than getting the brews cold for when hes finished the job and pay him her the hundy . in short a cash job with a drink or 5 at the end v it at xmas u beauty zap here s my cert mate Ill take that job here s my tools let me at the vehicle ,Ill stand aside on my walking stick and get the brews cold to drink ,do i need to get a sparky out to do what a qualified mecanic can do ,should nt have too ,last time I went to tech thats was part n parcel of doing a mecanical tradeys course bring your voltmeter recheck what Ive checked find the same answer , pull or drop the tank or take it out thoe the inspection plate either ll work ,inline fuseable links yerp they re there all in engine bay what else is there !

So, your mate that diagnosed it is a qualified a grader, i havnt seen an a grade mehanic for years, do they still exist! why does he not want to do it. Why dont you want to tell us the make and model, lots of cars have perky little things that go wrong, but i dont think id want to do it for $100 either, no wonder noones wanting to do it for you, not even an hour and a halfs labour, and you expect them to come and tow it in! All the best with that! Why dont you try and get two doctors to come to your house after hours and transport you back to their surgery and then do a few tests, and see how much thatll cost!

That would be more the fault of overheads and compliance than the Boss "creaming it". It costs far too much to do business (especially automotvie business) legitimately in this country.
Sadly by supporting the "back yarder's" tax just goes up for everyone else.
This is what happens when you live in a Nanny state country that's obsessed with wiping everyone's bum for them and charging them for the privilege.
