your able to ask for the checklist and he said it was ok but then never got back to me whats the big deal it was just because the seller didn't give it and I wanted to know what the last wof was like!

The person that presented the vehicle is/was issued with a check sheet, (that check sheet has their name address and phone number on it). If you called me and told me you wanted a copy of it, my default answer would be NO, unless you are said person and then I would be charging you an admin fee for a copy.

Not hard to avoid these 'I've bought a lemon' scenarios is it! The hard truth is that many people ditch vehicles in this country because they know expenses are coming up, and a bunny purchaser needs to be found pronto, you need to be damn sure this isn't the case BEFORE handing over the cash, in fact it equally applies to real estate too. This sort of thing has kept Fairgo occupied for years. The only thing you can really do now is make a complaint to NZTA.

& he's under no obligation to give you a copy.

You bought a car with a new wof then in 6 months you get a new one so whats the problem.
I you have an accident and a defect is apparent then the police will take it up with the issuing garage.
If you have a problem then pay for another check with your AA garage and pay the fee for a new wof and let them take any faults that were passed before to LTNZ and get them to take it up with the other garage

Im glad I didnt sell you a car

aktow, Dec 23, 6:16pm
a fake wofis something like a photocopy .for over 9 years i had new wof for my car but my car was nevertested. i just rang a friend and one of the staff would bring over the sticker . so is my wof fake,,, no

fordcrzy, Dec 23, 6:26pm
hang on hang on.
so the wof was 3 months old when you bought the car!
theres nothing you can do.
i think what happened is the seller sold you the car knowing it had an airbag fault. so he disconnected the battery and reset the ecu and then reconnected it 5 mins before you arrived."sucker".-

you dont have a leg to stand on i'm afraid.

so you bought a car without a fresh wof without a pre purchase inspection. so as is were is, yet you want to string some poor seller up for a lifetimes maintenance please excuse me for not feeling sorry for you . i only feel sorry for the bugger who sold you the car lol

chazz6, Dec 24, 7:38am
I didn't mind paying for one, I just said I wanted a copy of it so I know for myself what was wrong in the last warrant. So then I can see what has been done to it and compare it to things that the AA said need doing. But back to my original question was what could the garage do about it as he said take it up, obviously like some people have said nothing. Thats all I needed. Some of you here obviously feel like it's ok to pass some cars even if you think and see there's things wrong. Guess money does talk. Oh well I can still get the seller on a few things now I have his name and address.

chazz6, Dec 24, 7:42am
it didn't say as is where is, and no all I wanted was the proof of the wof (checksheet) and the proof of cambelt been done, had asked seller for these but no reply. So I rang the garage to see if i could get one and he said yes. An it's not aa lifetime of maintenance, he said no mechanical faults and there were. Whats your problem with that!. thats just like how some people on here say excellent condition and find its not.

franc123, Dec 24, 8:10am
Reread post 28. WOF's are not and never have been a complete indicator of a vehicles mechanical condition, and certainly isn't a guarantee it will be suitable for a particular purpose for any period into the future. Thats where PPI's come in, relying on what the seller tells you is foolish, you are never going to get the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Are we getting the thrust of this yet!

poppajn, Dec 24, 10:13am
I,m quite sure if I took my car to 2 diferent garages they would find different faults. It ,s just how the testing agent veiws things
