On a road trip back of the boonies you rip a tyre open.
you throw the spacesaver tyre on and limp to the nearest town.
The only tyre shop has not a single matching tyre that fits your car.
But he does have a half worn snow tyre
So what would YOU do! -drive on with the spacesaver. Stop for the night or fit the snow tyre !

toyboy3, Dec 23, 2:48pm
Where are "the boonies" !

jmma, Dec 23, 2:55pm
and what is apsolutely (o:

mrfxit, Dec 23, 2:57pm
Snow tyre as long as it's in good condition.
Got to be better grip then a biscuit
Or if away from the "other half" /time of night/ very late arvo. stay the night ;-)

bellky, Dec 23, 2:57pm
And if the tyre shop 'has not a single matching tyre that fits the car' then what use is a half worn snow tyre!

a18a, Dec 23, 2:58pm
drive on the space saver till i fail my WOF which i wont realize is already 3 months overdue

bitsy_boffin, Dec 23, 2:58pm
Either way mismatched tyres, drive accordingly.

Probablystick with the spacie if it looks in OK condition and just carry on to the nearest big-smoke where a decent tyre can be procured, since otherwise it's just wasting a snow tyre.

Longest I've driven on a space saver was about 250-300ks after an encounter with a sharp rock after Kaikoura, slow careful trip, in an MX5, lucky I didn't have a passenger so I didn't have to leave the wheel (or passenger) on the side of the road.

Watchout, Kaz,he's back & not understanding whats between the lines (or his eye's)

kazbanz, Dec 23, 3:09pm
sorry mon but that has no meaning at all. Is one of the viilage idiots posting again! Ive got a program that blocks posts by some "traders"

llortmt, Dec 23, 3:37pm
If you ripped the tyre today and it had to come from a wholesaler by courier, you're be staying more than the night!

morrisman1, Dec 23, 3:41pm
Id drive on the spacesaver. Stuff paying for a single snow tyre which is stuffed already. It wouldn't be that far to the next town

3tomany, Dec 23, 3:43pm
back of the boonies grab the snow tire and drive accordingly at leesed you will still have youre spare if another one pops

carmad50, Dec 23, 6:39pm
belkys got nil between his ears

edangus, Dec 23, 6:39pm
Stay with the spacie and drive on to the next tyre co. Not going to waste my time on an "unproven" tyre.

carmad50, Dec 23, 6:47pm
if you apsolutely had to" or if you absolutely had to" yerp jump in drop me tweeds and bonk her silly hee hee hee

carmad50, Dec 23, 6:48pm
stay with the spacesaver drive next town and the next town if nesercary

bill-robinson, Dec 23, 7:21pm
I would fit the snow tyre it has more grip. scenario is the same as driving a 4wd blowing a tyre and need to replace all 4 to keep the diameter the same.

purple666, Dec 23, 7:29pm
Fit the snow tyre, I would rather drive with 4 miss matched tyres than a spacesaver.

snoopy221, Dec 23, 7:35pm
Back of the *boonies* and ya rip 1 tire-bad luck and should it follow ya home!
And well if ya ripped 2 tires ya snow tire is betta dan no tire -and a lot cheaper than a tow truck for a 3 wheeler.
(Unless it's an ole citroen ya can drive on 3 wheels -LOL)

carmad50, Dec 23, 7:44pm
shoot the truck and walk catch a bus

kcc55a, Dec 23, 7:46pm
Forget the tyre shop - find a garage that sells tyres.

trogedon, Dec 23, 7:46pm
Necessary. What's with your spelling tonight guys!!

carmad50, Dec 23, 7:48pm
all me many other threads are dying guys come on jump in there u know you really want tooo aye

Space saver tyres are made from a softer compound to compensate for their smaller footprint, they are also designed to be run at a pressure almost twice that of standard tyres. Under normal driving conditions they do perform surprisingly well with a few provisos; their wear rate is very high and pushed too hard they will overheat and ???go off??

pico42, Dec 24, 9:22am
I would fit my spare tyre. No space savers here.
