How many here have actually ripped open a tyre lately. Truck tyres are know for Zippering with one hell of a bang. Never had it happen in a car, the last flat I had was in 2007.

Yep how true. and those truck tyre disintegrations (which you see less and less of these days) are retread failures I'm sure.

purely in reply to your question. I havent had a flat in one of my cars for years. But my dad who lives on a dirt road has had a few tyres torn open.-literally big rips in em. I have had one wof fail for a down to the threads cut accross the tread of a car recently.

I would make sure I don't go on a road trip with a car that doesn't have a proper spare wheel. I've got a little starlet that only has a space saver but I wouldn't take it on a road trip. Mind you have the time my spares gone flat anyway. Thanks for reminding me to put air in it. lol
