Incidentally thepin in the picture is OPENnot closed

The linch pins I have seen have a gap between the pin and the spring when it's closed on one side.
I want no gap on either side!

The FLAT at the back stops them from rotating.

As I've said, it might be too dark to see which way around the stupid linch pin happens to be. I want something that cannot fail.

The job is complicated enough to do already without having to remove gloves in order to put a clip on. If the device that the clip is holding happens to fail, there could be a very serious accident. Oops, too late.

Well a linch pin is essentially designed for a three point linkage on the back of a tractor.
And it IS a ONE WAY PIN.

Now even with gloves on and in darkness the flat can be felt-and the clearance when open can also be felt.

The lack of common sense and fitting it BACKWARDS would concern me moreso.[If the device that the clip is holding happens to fail, there could be a very serious accident.]
Perhaps a photo of the actual application-which to me is not a 3 point linkage on a tractor-or ya wouldn't have this problem

If there is a very serious accident involving your homemade linch pins I wonder whose arse will be on the line! If the job has the potential to cause a very serious accident prehaps a certified pin or the use of a purchased linch pin or R clip with the removal of gloves to ensure your or others safety is more appropiate
