didn't the new cameras take a few pics with incorrect speed! sure i read a while ago one snaped a powerpole for speeding (in the ground)

Depends on the road and location of the camera van. I can even think of one spot where they park them about 10m off the road (that's 10m perpendicular) that's up an access road for a cell tower that is elevated by about 4m too. Most off the road spots in rural areas would be lower than the road itself due to camber and seal.
