Give him the right machine and he will prove he has lost nothing.3 wins from 3 at Hampton today proves that.It will be interesting to see him on the new track at Puke in a supercar in April.

Not sure I agree.Yes he did well compared to the others today.

Not sure about what.!
budgel,

Good on him for winning today, but the level of the competition is not as good as in V8 supercars in my opinion.

"I'll never be happy"
Strong driver, but my word he's become a miserable whinger.
newtec1,
Feb 17, 8:28pm
Well the Gizz finished higher than him in the S/car series and he couldn't get near him.
newtec1,
Feb 17, 8:30pm
In what way.!
newtec1,
Feb 17, 8:31pm
We will see at Puke if he has a strong car.
chevcamaro,

crap, he's a good driver,he's always been a good driver, sometimes his cars not up to scratch sometimes he's not up to scratch, when he loses his rag he can't race for shit, but you tee up a decent car and a decent murph and you can't beat him, plus he's done a lot of time at hampton and seems to like the place as for level of competition i thought there was some dam good drivers out there today but then thats only my opinion
newtec1,

Strange how some people criticize him.In all the years i have watched him i have never seen him lose his rag in a car, always the ultimate proffessional behind the wheel, and a promoters dream.he has proved that at Bathhurst many times when under extreme pressure to protect his position,or in the chasing car.He is certainly passionate about his sport and is not afraid to show it,but losing his rag is not something i have ever seen on the track.Sure he confronts other drivers for stupidity, but always with a valid reason.

Can think of 3 times he has had a dummy spit. Crash with Ambrose at Bathurst, Crash with Bargwanna and when he got handed that 5min penalty at Bathurst. But dont think he was losing his rag in those. Always been a fan of Murph, He has the right attitude for a race car driver, Just a pity the last few years he was handed a dud car.

Not necessarily a whinger, just says what he is paid to say. He completely lacks credibility.

There will always be two groups on this. One (like me) will believe Murph to be amongst the best in both domestic and V8SC. The other will harp on about him being tired, washed up and incapable. Frankly the results of the weekend say otherwise and if there is any doubt on his V8SC abilities I suggest we let him do his talking on the track. Puke wild card entry and first driver picked for the endurance rounds should provide opportunity for him.

Wow, you mustn't watch much motorsport then!

Personally I think he made a fool of himself but Interestingly enough Greg Murphy received no money for opposing the WOF changes.

No you are saying he did not get paid for appearing in the MTA ads opposing the WoF changes! How could you know that!

I enjoyed seeing him win, an old pro at work.
I will be happy to be proven wrong if and when he gets back on form in the V8 supercars. I think he is a good driver, just that it has been quite a while since he had a top ten finish in the supercars.
If he is a top level driver, why has he had trouble securing a decent car to drive!

Probably sponsor money often calls the tune and as we old farts know, it is all about the youth today! Three out of three says a lot in what is supposedly identical machinery.
Sadly, I missed recording races two and three and haven't seen them, but seeing so many cars sidelined at the beginning of race one, is the very reason why we need larger grids, from a spectator perspective.
Well done Murph.

Yes suprisingly enough he didn't get paid directly for the ads, I know a few people who are high up in the industry.
unbeatabull,

Motorsport has always been about the machinery, anyone who has been involved with it will know that. You get the top car in the field, 95% of the drivers that have proven themselves to be good enough at that level will win in that car.
I've supported Murph in the past, but he lost a little bit with the whole MTA/Opposing WOF Changes.

There are many reasons. Firstly, for better or worse Murph has remained loyal to the Holden brand meaning that Kellys, Erebus and the Ford teams were not an option. There goes 40% of the available seats out the window. Second, his results last year were rubbish. From a sponsors angle thats not great news. Most people would accept that the car he was provided with was less than useless i.e. a six year old chassis with no development work that absolutely nobody could strangle a decent lap time out of. Murph sat out the bulk of last year with back injury but take a look at the guys who drove the god forsaken heap of snot - they couldn't achieve anything better with it either. Kellys were in way over their head last year with trying to develop this years COTF and elected to ignore their lack of competitiveness entirely. Lastly, Murph was clear that he would not accept a seat just for the sake of remaining in V8SC - unless it was a genuine contender he would prefer to sit out the season as an endurance driver.

Here I am. Never said SVG would "walk' all over Murphy although he certainly gave Murph a hurry up and will continue to do so when he gets to know the car better. SVG was fastest at practice on Friday and had no front brakes in race 1 and 2 on Sunday so actually didn't do too badly. You may also have seen him all over Murphy in race 3 until he had more issues had to slow down for a short time. Only to pick back 2 placings for second. You also may have seen Murph on TV say that SVG has arrived and it wont be the last we see of him. Greg Murphy has a huge following in Super Tourers and is defintely a crowd favourite as proven by the crowd cheering when he passed Pederson each time. Good to see him being so well supported and he is doing a great job promoting Super Tourers.

His results last year were rubbish! He hasn't had a race win since 2005 and has been pretty lack lustre since. He is where he should be, back home at the sharp end of the field in Super Tourers and with the amount of experience he has it is as it should be.
