Got a $30 ticket for doing 58 km/hr in a 50 in the second week of December on straight wide section of Great South Road. Shock, horror, think of the children; once the sheep have gotten over their indignation vis a vis my heinous crime, the rest of you might find interesting the info from the "camera deployment register" form which the Police kindly sent me in response to my request for same.
Unmarked vehicle - BBP183 Duration - 1 hr 14 minutes from 12:56 to 14:10 Total vehicles / traffic flow - 1121 Total offences - 96
$30 isn't going to upset my bank too much but a hit rate of nearly 10% of all passing traffic I suggest is a rather good way to make some $ - especially when you don't have to chase them all down and bother with all that arguing, poor "attitude", and all the other complications that come from having to have social contact with those silly marks who don't appreciate your efforts in enforcing their Safer Communities [Together]. If you can get away with it. It's not like there would have been any properly dangerous driving anywhere on Great South Road in the course of 75 minutes.
I shall now meekly write my cheque and join the rest of the flock.

They've had to lower the 'tolerance' to within the accuracy of the microwave units in order to keep the revenue stream steady. It only takes a disgruntled angry with society, failed hall monitor operator to narrow the angle from the 22½° to increase the speed readings too.

Well instead of coming on here moaning maybe you should slow down. The speed limit is 50 kmph not 58. If you cant do the time dont do the crime.

I am actually amazed how well the social conditioning is working for them, you would think people would start to wonder with 10% of the traffic getting tickets and all, yet no tangible road safety increase over time to show for it (when you remove what safer cars are responsible for).
It's also impressive that they are still able to maintain the 100 million dollar revenue target even though that now means lots of small tickets for drivers. If New Zealand has 3'000'000 motorists that is an average of one of these ticket's for each of us per year they are shooting for.
I suspect we wouldn't have as many as 3'000'000 active motorists eithre, anyone know what the figure is!

its a myth, there is not enough criminals out there to fund the govt ,so guess who loses, that $30 meant to turn into extra fees from court cost too, when they ban smoking in cars there will be more fines to call on, if you get robbed beaten ect, dont bother ringing it in,

yes the op was he is complaining about how many tickets where issued or is reading not your strong point now as we are name calling what does your name stand for big jerk moaning here or something else

I get tickets but I don't come on here and moan about it. Last one was 104 towing a trailer at te aute. I was in the wrongI got caught and I paid the fine and got demerits but that was 3 years ago. Also I doubt you could even catch me in the diesel Im using as a daily driver

Speed limit probably too low for that section of road and should be reviewed.
Had a similar scenario here in Taihape at the northern entrance/exit from the town. The limit was 50kph and it was a gold mine for the constabulary with one even having a bet with his workmates (better work stories I kid you not) that he could dish out 100 TON??

No worries, at 62 years young it is a permitted activity.
It is also permitted while you are trapped at home sneaking around the house trying not to disturb a very sick sleeping wife that I am looking after and consequently have bugger all else to do that doesn??

That's it in a nutshell.
To maintain the revenue stream they have to catch people out accidentally speeding, which everyone does from time to time.
It's long past being about safety, or trying to catch intentional speeders. If it were about safety they wouldn't park the camera, partially obscured, in middle of the only passing lane for miles down the road from me.
I just can't believe people have got so brainwashed that they are happy with Police wasting time on this while real crime goes uninvestigated. Its time to end the smoke and mirrors sham and self funding model. At the end of the day all the money for Police has to come from the taxpayer so lets be honest about it and re-introduce sensible priorities for Policing.

.LOL.probably not,the Volvo is governed to 90 but still cruises nicely. I find this a lot. you can follow traffic at 70k in the 100 zone get to a passing lane and pull out to pass they will speed up to 90 or more so you can't pass then back down to the 70 to 80 again, very annoying and unnecessary.

Yes it is especially if it is a school zone which have a very tightly enforced reduced tolerance.

For the sake of 30 dollars, man up pay it. Take it as a lesson learned

Its interesting hows its the speeding one that have a moan. The target speed limit in the area at the time was 50, so to be doing 58 would be delibaretly pushing the pedal rather than accidentally creep up in speed to 52 53. If there was no speeding there would be no revenue to be made, I have never had a ticket in my time of driving. The government gets enough of my income through taxes so why would I volunteer to donate more.
Speeds limit should be enforced, but of course the speeding crowd hate that.
