So when that same vehicle rounds the same corner & comes across a very large tractor with a very large metal blade at windscreen height morning the grass verges what are you going to do . DRIVE TO THE CONDITIONS !

lpggas, Mar 23, 3:08pm
exactly . but unfortunately we have too many selfish & impatient muppets behind the wheel of vehicles who cant grasp the simple concept that if you have to pass anything slower ( Bikes , tractors , grannies etc etc ) you wait until the road is clear so you can pass safely .

There ya go fixed
As I keep saying all the rights in the world don't bring a dead man back to life.

kazbanz, Mar 23, 4:43pm
Incidently folks. Yes I ride a treddlie. Troggie knows I ride with my kids including having my baby girl in a bike seat in front of me.
Buttheres places I won't ride no matter how much of a "right" I have to do so.
Maybee if all you guys chest beating had dealt with a freind dying right in front of you then you'd be less concerned about "rights" and more concerned about doing every darn thing you can to ensure your personal safety whilst riding a treddlie.
-Incidently 13 years oldThames to waihi ride 5 riders wiped out. One fatally.car driver had sunstrike as he crested a hill

If you have something to say then say it in your words .dont change somebodys elses comments .

kazbanz, Mar 24, 8:44am
Why! free world and freedom of speech

lpggas, Mar 24, 11:00am
Free speech does not extend to changing what other people have said .by all means debate the point but changing somebody else's quote & still attributing to them is childish

Very well put, and quite basic really. However, many NZ divers are more basic than that and think they have to win when driving.

matarautrader, Mar 24, 7:55pm
Lets change the wording.but unfortunately we have too many selfish & impatient muppets with their bums on a pushbike who cant grasp the simple concept that if you are passed by anything( Bikes , tractors , grannies etc etc ) your only hope is that they wait until the road is clear so they can pass safely.
They don't wait, they don't see you, you are the one who pays the price.

wind.turbine, Mar 24, 9:00pm
I agree there.
you wait until your way is clear.
very basic rule.
only problem is the road rage you get behind you!
I ended up behind a tractor the other day and the traffic was too busy to pass so I slowed to the 40KMH it was doing until a passing lane that was about a k further up yet some egg head behind me flashing his lights and tooting his horn at me for not passing!
some people are to impatient.
I myself have driven tractors on the road the the amount of idiots out there is crazy!
I was once carting a trailer of bales and I signaled to turn right and slowly made my way over to the right of the lane and people just keep on passing!
I was right on the start of the turning bay and I had someone still passing me!

Almost agree with you 100% except the bit about the cyclist being the impatient & selfish for riding defensively . . Riding defensively is a must when riding on our roads as we have so many people who turn into feral lunatics when they get behind the wheel & must win at all costs . even if that cost is somebodys life. Come on people how hard is it to learn to share the road safely & courteously with all road users . Yes some cyclists are tossers & dont obey road rules but to act aggresive toall cyclists just because of the actions of a few is rather childish . Many car drivers are also tossers & dont obey the road rules but you don't see me getting all aggressive to all other cars as a result
Share the road safely folks because the next cyclist killed might just be somebody close to you and even if they are not they are still somebodys mother/father/son/daughter

oliver6, Mar 25, 9:47am
We all realise that cyclists are the ones at most risk.
The problem is how to educate drivers to be safe, considerate, patient and non aggressive.
