No no, you misunderstand me. It might have been an honest mistake, someone took it off and forgot about it. Or some knob took it off to use on his own car at home. Now if the latter is the case, then I hope they lose their job etc, they had a choice.

Goodness me, you are jumping the gun mate, there are other logical alternatives, like viewing the cctv footage etc of the vehicle in the car park, or other logical explanations as had already been covered in these threads. Didn't you see Meatheads post with the key word being 'notice'. surely those avenues have to be explored first before anyone goes off half cocked.
Additionally, I have a Mazda 3 with a screw in aerial mounted in the centre of the roof. With wind, movement, vibration etc, every now and then I have to give it a wee twist to ensure that is hasn't loosened itself and is working its way out of its thread . or is that too logical !

I'm not going into the details here, I was merely referring to the comment the OPs mrs made (But my wife says she would not like it if someone lost their job for "$50 of nonsense") as in if someone had (a big if at this stage) done it, that she'd let it slide if that meant someone was to lose their job. That's what I was pointing towards. As for the actual event, there could be a tonne of reasons why it's gone.

In that case you are correct, and she isn't. Theft is theft whether it be 1 dollar or a 1000 dollars, and if it is discovered that they have a pilferer in their midst, then the pilferer has to be discovered, as until such time as the pilferer is discovered, everyone that works on the premises is potentially the pilferer.
