Mercedes had the C111 experimental cars in a diesel version that did over 200mph (at Nardo in Italy) with mechanical fuel injection and a turbo, years ago, even pre-biodegrable german auto wiring. OLD most powerfull and economical diesel is the 1.4 fiat uno turbo diesel. i never managed to get my hands on one of thembut i got a 1.7 tipoa 1,7 punto deregisterdand a 1,9 td tipo damaged on hold. i like most powerfull diesel with lowest fuelconsumption. its why i also own my dream car now the unit injected vw 1.9 tdi 6speed manualnicknamed the silver bullet. butyea electronicsjunk on it unfortunately to make that form of power with no smokeyou need electronics.
thats the clue Engine size:2874cc 2.7 is commonrail shit the musso and korando have this engine . the rexton i huntfor only till 2003 has that engine comes in 4wd and2wd . i only want manual 4wd myself or i can keep my van

Just to wind up. Re #15 above. Seems my enquiry to Italy was re-routed back to the local NZ dealer. Got a response this morning from them that they could get the gasket here via DHL in 4 days but cost would be an additional $150 - $200. Their price for the gasket alone was $240, so it's starting to sound gold plated. (Maybe solid.) Meanwhile through leads from here have ended up with 'Gaskets Unlimited' from Kaitaia. Around $80 give or take plus courier or postage. I've asked them to make two. Figure if I have a spare hanging on the wall I'll never need it.Murphy's Law.Thanks all.
