Am I mistaken or is that a Bentley Continental? Possibly one of Aucklands rich and famous?

I agree, I thought it was a continental as well.

Looks like the car involved was quite a nice Bentley Continental (possibly the GT Speed edition too). Will be interesting to see if it was one of Aucklands rich and famous driving or another drunk businessman like in the case of the Aston Rapide crash. Edit. Sorry, double post

Either way, how the heck do you NOT SEE a road works truck parked on the road complete with flashing lights from 2 trucks.
IT took just over 1 hour to get the driver out which indicates a high speed crash with no braking before impact.
In other words, the driver simply didn't SEE anything in their way on the road.

Whats an "attenuator"?
intrade,
Feb 4, 6:47am
maybe it was one of these braindead people who think because there vehicle has accident avoiding systems they dont need to look at the roads no more. i think topgears clarkson put one of these to the test when he smashed a hole in to the intercooler of his car once .

in what context? i dont know if it spelles the same i have 20 to 1 attinuator on my oszilloscope this reduces the power spikes down because the scope is only 100 volt and injectors from diesel can spike up to 280 volt as they fire from capacitors especially like on my unit injected vw has about 280 volts dc on the wiring harness for injectors. here i googled it for you if you dont understand what i just wrote http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attenuator_%28electronics%29

Poor Bentley.

Going from memory I think the title of that video was "Car hits Attenuator"
intrade,
Feb 4, 7:32am
maybe the mean the truck displaying the flashing arrow in a undisturbed visible wave form

They obviously need even more trucks further back to warn the idiots that there is a chap ahead with a weedeater. I have often wondered why they use so many trucks for such things, now I know.
tintop,

Its the big crash cushion thats lowered down on the back of the truck to reduce the severity of any impact.
The real cost of littering. Typically one guy walking, one ute alongside keeping him company, two attenuator trucks.
4 guys on overtime rates, 3 vehicles, just cos jerks throw their rubbish out the window. And now a Bentley.

Picking alcohol and/or falling asleep at the wheel. Ethnicity almost certainly Chinese

I thought JB had one of these cars? I was overtaken like I was standing still by his car a few years ago, I have no idea who was driving it at the time. Surely the media would have spilled by now if this article was about him though.

I hope the rims are O.K. Wonder if its written off?

its just the standard of driving we come to expect from these people.
The driver losing consciousness before the collision would explain it.
Anyone else see Campbell Live the other night about a driver who had a heart attack on the motorway, lost consciousness then had a collision ?
The police have charged her with careless driving despite being told by hospital staff that she had lost consciousness before crashing.

Looks like a Bentley. And I wonder if it was a demonstration model? It's seats were plastic wrapped. YIKES!
ema1,

Yes . a driver who's got patience and has got some common sense. That crash surely was avoidable, would depend on the condition medically of the driver possibly. The outcome will make interesting reading?
peja,

Yes. Yes they do. I actually saw a woman in a silver Golf doing this this morning on Quay Street. She nearly drove into me
kyokei,

I don't defend bad driving from my kind (Chinese) which I've seen some real mind boggling examples of but I do take offence at idiotic broad statements like this.
Hitting one of these things should be instant loss of licence, they are normally covered in flashing lights and bright orange. Unmissable
