How do you hit one of these?

Hear hear. The blind woman driving the Golf this morning was European. And I have seen so many examples of atrocious driving by all races that I know not to generalise

lissa25, Feb 4, 11:18am
To me "these people" are the self righteous won't happen to me crowd, nothing to do with ethnicity.
To say all chinese can't drive or eat cats is as accurate as saying all maori are lazy or don't work or all europeans have little peckers and an ovine lover.
Good on you for standing up for what you know is not right.
(nb; I thought it was JB)

There's no distinction in that study for at fault drivers though. one race could be responsible for 100% of all crashes yet sbow up as low as 50% of the drivers involved.

I'm betting if you looked at crashes involving high end luxury cars at night within a 10km radius of the casino there would be a near statistical certainty that the driver would be Chinese ;-)

Ah, so that was his name. i have some flowers to send to Bentley, which hospital please?

Came across another crash on SH1 south of Huntly about 2pm, looked like a car had decided to play chicken with a fuel tanker at the end of the passing lane, got clipped and ended up almost parked on the train tracks off to the left side of the road.
Everyone seemed to be okay, but it could have been far worse if the car had over corrected and gone into oncoming traffic or something.

i stand by what i said , and also believe all immigrants should have to sit a NZ driving test and not be able to drive on an international license.

Didn't see Campbell Live but that sounds like yet another example I have heard of, of similar absurd practice by our Police. There seems to be enormous pressure from above to find someone to blame and charge whenever there is a motor accident.

I have seen it used to ghoulish levels where they were busily telling someone they would be charged as they waited with a serious head injury to be cut out of their car. It's disgusting. In that case, the primary factor causing the collision was terrible road design, the driver had done their best in near impossible conditions.

.
"terrible road design" . >>

Yea yea we hear that all the time but when it comes down to the facts & personal responsibility's, the road design has nothing to do with a crash

Spent many years driving on gravel roads & farm tracks at what could be easily called dangerous speeds by the nannys but never had an "accident" that wasn't of my own fault

brapbrap8, Feb 4, 2:44pm
+1
If the road is dangerous, most people would slow down and drive carefully, as opposed to driving like normal and blaming everything else when they come unstuck.

Possibly Asian in the video, as with the Aston.
They like Bentley's here.

Love how the rescuers happily chop the roofs off cars these days.
- nothing is safe from them.

thejazzpianoma, Feb 4, 3:07pm
Just got word first hand from someone who was at the scene just prior to the accident. It seems the two trucks were the ones doing silly things, they thought a crash was inevitable, and it turns out they were right.

thejazzpianoma, Feb 4, 3:11pm
The road had a 100km/h intersection with zero visibility due to the sun at certain times of the year. With no nearby alternative exit, a massive stream of cars behind and no where to turn around I would love to hear how your skills would negate the issue.

It should also be noted that you wouldn't necessarily realise the hazard existed until it was too late to turn around and with dozens of cars behind you "waiting for 10 minutes" is hardly an option.

I get where you are coming from, but sometimes road design really is at fault. Another example was a sign placed at such an intersection obscuring view of oncoming traffic. The residents complained to tranzit many times about the new sign, nothing was done until a couple of weeks later when there was a massive accident.

henderson_guy, Feb 4, 3:37pm
And how many vehicles managed to pull out of that very same intersection in the very same conditions without incident? Considering that in the same spot you mention, numerous truck and trailer units pull out at all times of day; again without incident? Yes, the road can sometimes be a factor, but that's where it is the responsibility of the driver to use their skills and judgement to safely manoeuvre the intersection.

thejazzpianoma, Feb 4, 4:00pm
Please explain in detail how a driver in this situation is supposed to use their "skills and judgement" to negate oncoming traffic in near nill visibility. Remember, you generally wouldn't realise the conditions until it was too late, turning around wasn't an option, waiting 10 minutes impractical (and no one ever did this as far as I am aware).

The accident rate was considerable. And remember, just like Russian Roulette, most of the time you get away with it, but it comes down to luck.

henderson_guy, Feb 4, 4:09pm
Practical or not, sometimes you just have to wait for an opening. If you're just going to blindly rush out into oncoming traffic, then it's no wonder you're such an advocate for cars with 15 airbags. You only have a short little car and plenty of acceleration to worry about. Some of us have trucks over 20 metres long and 44ton+. The vehicle I normally drive at the moment has 3 metres of front overhang from where I sit. Yes, sometimes it can take a frustratingly long time to get into traffic, but it's just what has to be done sometimes.
If you can't understand that, it's best you go hand in your license now.

whqqsh, Feb 4, 4:42pm
no matter how many lights, arrows etc etc someone is going to not see it. I was driving down the long drag from Hillsborough down the motorway heading for Mangere Bridge, way in the distance I see flashing lights assuming road works on the bridge that become more obvious as I drive along past Onehunga, get into single lane marked by lights & cones & big truck with flashing arrows. Everyone merges & slows to an almost stop, I hear a screech behind me & get rear ended by a guy who reckons he didn't see anything & we all 'just stopped in front of him', even better its right in front of 3 cops that were attending (it wasn't road works after all) the accident that had happened previously

peja, Feb 4, 4:55pm
Sound like he was texting. Hope he lost his licence. Not dissimilar thing happened to me a while back, silly bint in a BMW ran up the back of my ute on the Harbour Bridge in heavy traffic, she was txting

kyokei, Feb 4, 5:58pm
Ah the closet racist is back sprouting his rubbish

Bugger the Bentley.
People count . poor people more like if any besides the driver were hurt, more Bentley's are made all the time.
Bentley's like all cars are only good if their drivers are.
