98 chariot- is that the 2400cc GDI engine one? (when you open the bonnet there will be GDI written on the black plastic cover. If so it may explain the garage raising the smoke issue. The bouncy shocks bit-if you push down hard on the front corner of the car the front of the car will sink down. Do that a couple of times really fast then let go. if the car goes up again once and then settles the shocks are probably fine. if the car keeps bouncing a couple of times then the dampers are worn out. --That's the backyard way of figuring it out. The brake imbalance is most likely an adjustment.

I thought shocks only failed if there were leaking ? I would fail them or if mine buy new ones but as technical speaking anyone

it is a GDI.pushed the front dwn come straight back up no bounce at all. thanks for your advise stickman I will get breaks fixed and take it else where to get wof
