Totally agree. Ive had many a laugh watching Top Gear and he obviously has a huge number of fans like me. If you are the type of person that finds Clarkson offensive then just switch channels.
Nah, I imagine both thoses groups of people would have more sense.

Maybe too early to call that. Could be him playing games with BBC. Though you're probably right damn it.

Well Tiff Needham went to opposition (AFAIK ) & started 5th gear was quite good but lacked the crazyness of TG Perhaps Sky (UK) may restart it if the other 2 come on board . Then our sky Tv could show it . Its too politically incorrect for network Tv . Bet TV3 regrets its loss , it brought back a lot of male viewers , sick of all the reality crap &chat shows

One of the best motoring journalists out there - If Harris was made a Top Gear host, then it would be a great show.

If you want to see Jeremy Clarkson being really offensive, then read his books.
I've read all his books, and many of them 2-3 times. Great reading.
James May's books are good too.

people thought the more that was revealed the better it would look for Clarkson. but no! They held up a helicopter that was supposed to take them to the hotel (hard life that huh?) by 2 hours so they could go to the pub for a 'drinking session', then turned up late after everyone else had eaten & gone to bed, the producer stayed up to greet them then gets abused & punched in the face for his efforts. Clarkson may be entertaining but he's still an egotistical, arrogant twat! & those that want him reinstated are just feeding into that & are just celeb dick-suckers

Your assumption is wrong. Hate celeb culture and don't support his behaviour, but I find him very entertaining. He's what they call a 'talent' and yes needs a humility lesson, and that's not unusual for mega successful people. He's flawed, but brilliant. And his behaviour should not be excused, but as yet we haven't heard from the assistant producer, he didn't make a complaint, it was Clarkson who alerted BBC, and reports deny any punch. We should hold off until they sort this out, it might blow over and the asst producer accepts apology and everyone moves on with Clarkson promising to control himself. But all this media drop, and the BBC s actions, may well mean he just calls it a day. And I don't think im alone, mates that love top gear are not celeb followers at all.
whqqsh,

& yet still make exceptions & excuses on his behalf. nah not celeb followers at all. Ive been on work trips where people have complained about hotels, food, vehicle rentals etc etc, my attitude is 'mate, Im not paying for it, its a freebie, Its enough that I can to my job & not actually hinder my work, so Im happy with it' The sense of entitlement of many people is astounding & the support they get from hangers on only reinforces that

The man crossed the line - I think that is clear.
He was blind drunk, spurred on by 3 hours of drinking at a pub so far away he needed a helicopter to get back, then completely lost his tempter because he was late for tea and couldn't have what he wanted. He then punched the member of the crew who stayed up to greet him when all the others had gone to bed.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if the BBC decided he should get the boot.
However - I do feel that the other man involved in the altercation should have some say. Clarkson is not a victim in this situation, except for his own stupidity. If the two are able to shake hands, make amends and work together again, I could see some sort of future.

I agree with you. And am certainly not a celeb follower.

I dunno, I bet that production guy is paid good money to pamper to the stars after long days of filming.
The food should've been there.

Wonder how big the display is on the bean counters calculators at the beeb. Things to ponder if the 'sack' him, also other ramifications of cancelling the rest of season 22
150-200 million pounds from TG revenue - GONE Breaking contracts of Clarkson, May & Hammond by not completing season 22.
Clarkson = 1 million per season May = 500,000 per season Hammond = 500,000 per season
Tens of millions in suits from worldwide networks who have purchased season 22 which they will not get.
Looks like TV license fees will go up in the UK to cover the beebs shortfall.

No excuse for thumping someone, but if we think that not having any hot food available (for whatever reason) is pandering to a celebrity, it pales into insignificance when you read what some of the music people demand before they perform.
Having arrived at the Sheraton in Papeete at 10pm after a long day's fraught travel, finding that there was no food available at all - hot or cold, after 9pm, then I can well understand - and I was stone cold sober.
JC for all his faults is a bankable commodity and it now appears that if the Assistant Producer stayed up to welcome them and given that JC and crew had spent a couple of hours at the pub and the helicopter had to wait, then he created the situation himself. So with the extra information now available, I take back what I said about a jumped up junior producer.
Many so called celebrities have been rather less than well behaved (1970's pop groups were famous for trashing equipment, hotel rooms and being totally obnoxious, not to mention the drink and drug culture) but people still bought their records and went to their concerts.
No excuse, but it will be sad if TG now falls over as if it does carry on, it won't be the same. Morecambe and Wise without Eric Morecambe? I don't think so.
I just hope he doesn't give up writing.
