Pulled over by a cop on my way home

Just finished a hard 12 hour shift, nearly home, cop gives me the stare & does a U turn. Now I wouldn't mind but my ute is regd, wof only a month or so old, the roads wet so Im taking it easy & just come around a corner slowly so no reason for the attention. He follows me at a distance but it's pretty obvious as I live down a rabbits warren of sidestreets. So 2 corners from home & wait until Im out of sight & give it bit, as he rounds the corner I brake before he's straightened up so he couldn't get a radar reading but the extra distance between us is blatantly obvious. Next minute it's all on, lights flashing & climbing up my bumper while turning into my cul-de-sac. I pull over in sight of home, get out & walk over in my socks in the wet. These guys weren't happy so I get asked to move away & go back to my car. Then one gets out. I get the third degree, license, rego wof, breath test, mod cert check etc etc (even asked why I have personalised plates). Then he asked why the acceleration? I play dumb, comment maybe his Holden is just slow around corners (his moustache dropped at the ends for that one) & then ask him to prove what I was actually doing either by radar or following. He ends up giving up telling me to stop playing silly games. I reply 'you started it, I was doing nothing wrong, not speeding, cars all legal & Ive done a long hard day. You're the one that glared at me, pulled a U'ey & started following me for no reason'
I have a feeling Im going to have to be RRREAL careful for the next while

Sounds like you're the hero mate.

beno, Jan 8, 9:31pm
did he explain why he pulled you up? one of the fundamental laws of police are that you must have the freedom to go about your business without being unnecessarily interrupted by the police.

I usually avoid such labels as 'hero', but as you guys are so readily impressed
autographed photos can be sent out

We do not live in the USA where the Constitution is invoked by people using the 'Natural Man' defence. It does not exist here.
***("one of the fundamental laws of police")*** Parliament makes the Laws - The Police enforce those Laws.
The Police can perform "Random Stops" on anyone at any time - They are not required to explain their reason for a stop UNLESS you are arrested. They have a large selection of reasons to perform these stops : Drugs / Firearms / Suspicion of almost anything and others. I could be wrong - but this is my experience.

LOL, (great comeback!).

I think the reality is that a huge amount of crime is solved and prevented by your average cop working from gut instinct. Yes it is some form of profiling (don't tell the greenies) and no it's anything but an exact science. IMO it's a far better use of Police resources than revenue collecting in the passing lane with a radar gun.
If you do get pulled over for a closer look it's all about your attitude, with a few exceptions your average Kiwi cop isn't too difficult to deal with.

Why were you playing silly games?

golfdiver, Jan 9, 6:39am
One of those people who have the mindset that the police are the "enemy " . They can be whatever you want them to be.

lookoutas, Jan 9, 6:44am
Yeah - you really did look for it

mals69, Jan 9, 6:46am
Maybe you could get the suzzie out tonight and tease them up
a bit more .

Two male strippers masquerading as cops no doubt what you would like them to be - then a trip with them down the Hershey Hiway

golfdiver, Jan 9, 6:52am
Don't involve me with your fantasies

mals69, Jan 9, 7:08am
Nah I'll be at your place with your 5 footish blond why you
are occupied

lookoutas, Jan 9, 7:17am
Better to be pulled over by a cop than being picked up by the fuzz.

golfdiver, Jan 9, 7:22am
Only thing you would be doing at my place is mowing the lawn and washing the cars. Under strict supervision too.

mals69, Jan 9, 7:26am
So now you have B n D fantasies

cmscott111, Jan 9, 7:28am
lol fundamental laws of police ! tell me where i read about the fundamental laws of police ?

golfdiver, Jan 9, 7:30am
Not sure what your problem is lad. But I'm sure it could be treated by doctors and a secure facility.

mals69, Jan 9, 7:34am
Is that all you got - bit dissapointing - oh well raped this topic enough
anyway

socram, Jan 9, 7:37am
Post of the thread. Probably not understood by Brazilians?

mals69, Jan 9, 7:37am
+1 on the random stop - its how they get most of their recreational
drugs

Seriously - no doubt only doing their job last night, thankless job
of keeping us all safe, first people most turn to when the shite hits
the proverbial - even the ones that constantly complain about them

More like "Why were you so bored you made this story up?"

intrade, Jan 9, 7:53am
personally i dont want to drive till the end of janauary when this 4kph bull$shit stops. i already damaged my front left tyre to try and look at the odometer and traffic while i got more and more angry driving to try and meet the rediculess rules went to 55kph several times. Not good to drive when you are angry and want to build gaschambers in your mind for the bluddy thugs to stick em in to.
