https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/423245221.jpg picked this up last night, its taken a long time to find the right triple for me. Now if the rain stops I can take it out for a ride ( worried about the bike getting wet not me lol)

noswalg, Nov 5, 7:12am
Agreed the RF's are a great bike. Mine will be staying in the shed for a while now to get some special treatment.

trogedon, Nov 5, 7:20am
Very cool. I'd get up on that.

noswalg, Nov 5, 7:28am
cheers , I like the cafe racer look, just need to set it up for myself now and build an interchangeable fastback type seat so the missus can get on the back.

trogedon, Nov 5, 7:30am
So do I. I've got a Yamaha SR500 I'm doing (for the last 19 years!)

noswalg, Nov 5, 7:51am
Nice, good things take time. I plan to keep the trumpy for at least that.

kazbanz, Nov 5, 8:24am
Did you pull the seat off to check the subframe?

mals69, Nov 5, 8:27am
How reliable are those Trumpies - know a guy that bought a trumpie tiger brand new, electrical problems in first year then 13 months later had to have whole motor replaced. Not something you hear with Honda.

tamarillo, Nov 5, 8:35am
Very reliable. Your friend had an unusual experience that's possible with any make.
My tiger hasn't missed a beat, 45,000km now. Neither had my trophy before. Folk are getting big milages from them.

noswalg, Nov 5, 9:50am
yep, looks OK to me.

Good to hear !

desmodave, Nov 5, 1:46pm
So if it's not a good fit for you , you can walk away with your deposit or is it just subject being in the condition it was advertised . They look like a lot of bike for bugger all coin . Good luck .

mals69, Nov 5, 1:57pm
Congrats - nice looking bike - got the x factor !

whqqsh, Nov 5, 1:58pm
if its 'just not a good fit' thats my bad & I'll take it anyway (can't expect someone to have their sale ruined just because I made the wrong choice), if theres something mechanically wrong with the bike thats when I'll walk away. It seems to have the same physical dimensions (seat height, reach etc) as a Katana which Ive owned a few of in the past so shouldn't be any real issues. I'm in for a 5 hour ride home so I'll soon know if it's 'right' or not

desmodave, Nov 5, 2:17pm
5 hours and should know it well all right . You will find all those muscles that you had forgotten you had until you get match fit . Check ya Tyre pressures before ya leave eh, and have a safe blast home.

whqqsh, Nov 5, 2:50pm
yeah, it'll be a mission as Im way out of practice & all sorts of unused muscles come into play, even something simple like holding the throttle open can become a strain. I thought about transporting the thing or taking the Falcon down with the trailer, then I thought 'harden up you old bugger!'.
It'll be a giggle to look back on one way or another

Try to relax the arms/shoulders. Easy to get fatigued when tensing up. Have a good trip, sounds fun.

trogedon, Nov 5, 6:20pm
Cool bike! It deserves a retro race finish like this http://www.motorstown.com/imgs/19399-suzuki-gs-1200-ss-3.html
Use some of the leftover blue from the Ford ute.

gunhand, Nov 5, 6:33pm
I owned a GS1200ss from new when getting back into bikes.
Good all rounder, not overly complicated in suspenders etc, bullet proof motor. Limited to 180kph unless its been overridden of course, many did that.
Front screen is a bit bulbous and i reckon they coulda done better. Comfy enuff. Pillion didn't like it cause she sat higher than me, but was comfy for her, just buffeting in the head she didn't like.
Huge cult following in jappa land.
Should go forever if you treat it right.
And cheap these days to, pretty underrated really.

whqqsh, Nov 5, 6:43pm
yeah, was quite a bit cheaper than the Katana I was looking at as well as 50% bigger motor, 20 years newer yet still retro styling. I quite like the front fairing & screen, something different especially compared to the 'angry insect' styling of today (& the vadge shaped headlights).
Im happy with the black paint job

gunhand, Nov 5, 6:50pm
Yep, they are a love or hate machine. I like them personally and would own another. I have seen a few attempts to "fix" the screen, all looked worse.
Don't scratch the paint, its not a full gloss and would be a pain to match. Quicker to redo all the black.

skin1235, Nov 5, 8:00pm
5 hrs?, you're mad I tell you, mad as a snake, the seat will be like a brick after 2 hrs, a vibrating brick with nails after 3 and by 4 you'll be standing on the pegs too scared to sit down, take at least a high density foam pad, and a valve key - drop the tyres down quite a few and the ride will be a lot softer, or take a tent and make it a 3 day return journey, with refreshment stops often lol

desmodave, Nov 6, 8:33am
Here's an Italian creation using the best part of the GS1200 . The rear end looks a little sportster like .

kazbanz, Nov 6, 10:56am
hastings or whanganui?
That's a bike ive always fancied

whqqsh, Nov 6, 11:52am
Hastings, funny as I bought my ute from there & turned out to be a good deal, hoping the place is good luck for me.
Its a good drive/ride back especially the Taupo bypass, just need to keep a close eye on the speedo, that place is cop alley
