No shows are a fact of life for dealers.
Yes, it can be frustrating and I think most people have the best of intentions at the time, but many, if not most, don't let you know if they are not coming or have changed their mind - they simply don't call back.

I also park the car around the back of the house not out front or in the drive. Have had people arrange to meet, arrive, have a wander around the car but decide it is not what the want. Without letting you know they have been.

I had a guy come to look at my Lexus a few years back, he test drove it as had never driven one before and then purchased one from out of town. Worst thing was he gave me a duff phone number.

yz490, Jul 27, 5:11pm
yes had a number of those over the years & can see why some traders say 'no pickups' but doesn't work on bigger items unfortunately. Still waiting for a red face [& will be 'devastated lol'] but you 'do' get the right of reply luckily. Always give people freight options & let then choose & had the odd one go walk abouts for a while but did get there in the end [out of my control] but worry worry.

Be like the dealers , get a signed sale /purchase then they cant back out . But thats the breaks selling privately , but ive been lucky never had a bad one

jessie01, Aug 11, 7:43am
so heres an update on the timewasters I have had to deal with. yesterday a guy from wellington was coming up to get the car. he had asked me to hold it for him. I spoke with him he was leaving there at 12pm. at 3 I messaged him to see how far away he was and he replied not fat whats your cell number. I sent the details to him. about an hr later I called, no answer. He just didn't show up or let me know. I feel like im losing my mind.

Jessie-please refer back to my original post.
Jessie-please repeat after me.--Buyers are liars.
The car is for sale until you have the money in your hand.
Imagine having 100 cars and 200 people exactly like your two.
That is the daily reality for a car dealer.
You either htfu or stop selling cars.
It makes you cynical when it comes to the public.
-Nope not having a whinge just that's the way it is.

I can see several reasons you are getting limited interest in your car. Im happy to help with advice but only if you agree.
I do though have to say-remove the comment about time wasters on the auction That really is a big no no.

jessie01, Aug 11, 9:23am
yes I have to agree. this one sounded so positive. why tell someone you are on your way and then not show. I think some people get off on stuffing others around. oh well its a beautiful day so will go out and take some better photos today, maybe that will help. I have dropped the price dramatically so fingers x

tamarillo, Aug 11, 9:25am
Don't blame you for being pissed off. It's hard to sell privately in this price range but people do seem to be mucking you about.
I hope you'll take this as helpful; IMO you desperately need really good detailed high quality pics of the car after its had a full valet. It's impossible to tell condition in current photos. I do a quick video and post in on you tube with a link. Walk around car, showing details in and out, then short drive. It's worked for me sometimes.
Good luck.

sw20, Aug 11, 9:26am
He wasn't coming to get the car. He was maybe interested, but not really sure. If he was actually buying it he would have sent you a deposit to hold it.

kaz's advice is correct. The vehicle isn't sold till the cash is in your hands.

jessie01, Aug 11, 9:29am
he told me to consider it on hold for him. that was his exact words. He told me he wanted it

jessie01, Aug 11, 9:31am
he also told me to go ahead and contact the man I was buying the car from so I could go ahead with that deal. he confirmed over the phone that it was happening.

sw20, Aug 11, 9:31am
I want a Ferrari F40 too.

kazbanz, Aug 11, 9:33am
Jessie a couple of suggestions.
1) Take a "money shot" of the car outside in the sunshine with a neutral background.-Money shot is IMO a 1/4 shot of the right front or left front corner.
2) next pics are the opposite corner,Direct front on,back on and side on.
3)take good pics of the interior.
A car like yours should virtually leap out of the computer screen.

Words wise. I noticed your car didn't appear when I searched under your specific model. Have a look at the competitions adverts and make the letters of the sub model identical to theirs.-then if someone is looking for that specific car yours will come up.

kazbanz, Aug 11, 9:35am
sorry Jessie--THAT part makes no sense. Do you own the car or not?

jessie01, Aug 11, 9:35am
your awesome thank you.

jessie01, Aug 11, 9:36am
I had a car I was going to buy when mine sold he told me to tell the owners of that I was going to complete the sale as my car was sold

jessie01, Aug 11, 9:42am
I just did a search and mine is by far the cheapest on trade me

toyboy3, Aug 11, 10:04am
If you did want to sell the car you would of presented better pictures showing detail not shadows and removed the negative comments in the blurb

jessie01, Aug 11, 10:48am
done but the photos look nothing like the ones in the auction you've shown me kazbanz. I only have a cell phone camera and really struggled with the sunlight. my friend is a photographer I think I will contact her to help me out.

kazbanz, Oct 22, 9:36pm
Think about it---You are trying to sell a $10k-$20k asset. So it really needs to look good to attract attention.
Its against TM rules to self promote but I can assure you the pics I do are on a $100 camera
The first pic is better --actually pretty good. but if you turn the car around so its facing into the sun--sun at your back -take a front on shot of it
Then turn it at an angle so one front corner is nosed towards the kerb OR the back corner is nosed into the kerb.
