grrrr whats going on with buyers. I have listed my commodore and need it sold due to financial reasons. A lady contact me from New Plymouth, seemed lovely and was very keen. She was coming to see and set the day but didn't show or contact me to let me know. this time a guy from close by, Ashurst, came and viewed. He loved it and made an offer which I accepted. he was coming to collect last wed or thur. Wed came and I txted for confirmation and all was good. I phoned and we chatted and there was no problems he was going ahead but after no more contact and no answering my txts or calls nothing has happened. I spent the day in tears as I really had my hopes up that things were going to get easier once the car sold. Why the heck do traders do this they are so rude and ignorant. Oh well gripe over I feel a little better now

Just another example or two of never being able to believe anybody, well most everybody now a days. I'm sure the right person for your car will turn up.

welcome to private sales.
worst bit for me is when I put aside other plans to accommodate a buyer, as I sure as shit am not going to say 'oh I wont be home at that time'.
then they dont turn up!

Sad. May I suggest get a deposit next time. Really if someone can't do a deposit, even $100, something is wrong. It is very hard selling privately at your end of market, when folk hand over 10 grand plus they like reassurances, warranties, finance etc dealer can give. May I suggest getting AA (or Holden) report on it and jacking up a finance company that will work with you. I am a bit worried about your price to be honest, there's cars similar for less around I think. Try looking in expired listings for similar cars that have sold maybe. Hope you don't mind feedback.

not at all feedback is always appreciated. I did look around and after that mine seemed the lowest price for the year etc, especially on trademe. It has been listed for a while tho and I am negotiable on the price

there is about 4 on trademe going from 17000 and up that a similar to mine and to be honest not as tidy looking

Jessie here's another feedback. Take the car somewhere nice and sunny and take some better photos, those ones are not helping your cause at all.

Is there anything owing and showing on the ppsr?

I reckon, having had a look at your Holden listing, get someone who can take good photos of the car. Not wishing to be rude, but you can make it appear much more appealing. A fact of selling the vehicle privately . . . you will have to deal with a few dicks before selling your car, patience. Good luck with the sale.

and change the mileage because it reads <1000km until you read the text.

Hey Jessie, I'm in the same boat, had a guy last week offer and then stop. But look how cheap I have mine, compared to yours, and I still can't sell.
jessie01,
Jul 26, 6:12pm
Yours is very nice. Good luck with selling. I dont mind if someone decides not to go thru with the sale. My issue is the no response to txts or calls such a rude thing to do.

Jessie-please repeat after me.--Buyers are liars. The car is for sale until you have the money in your hand. Imagine having 100 cars and 200 people exactly like your two. That is the daily reality for a car dealer. You either htfu or stop selling cars. It makes you cynical when it comes to the public. -Nope nothaving a whinge just that's the way it is.

It seems much worse now than it was years ago. I don't know. people, especially many younger ones just aren't as honest, never follow through with anything, and never do what they say, when they say they're going to do it. How many times do you organise something with another person, or arrange to meet at a certain time. you arrive, and wait. and wait. finally you ring them up. 'where are ya'? The half hearted response usually goes something like. 'Oh I forgot!' in a non caring tone. That really bugs me. sounds so pathetic and useless.
woodypc,

and you cant expect the same sort of money as they well for at dealer as for private sales there is almost no comeback if something goes wrong. Do you mean a deposit to just look at he car? Because I would never agree to that.

tamarillo,
Jul 26, 8:05pm
No, I meant deposit once a deal is agreed too. Agreed you can't get deposit just to look!
woodypc,
Jul 26, 8:12pm
Yeh I thought that would be what you meant. But I think most people do not want to buy expensive cars as privates sales too much of a chase to get screwed.

I recall a thread a while back about some muppet with an old POS Porsche, who expected people to pay some exorbitant amount of money just for a viewing and test drive?
Personally, you'd have to pay ME to take a Porsche!

Jessie01, change the spelling of brought to bought, its a small thing but you didnt brought it!

Selling your car is essentially a business deal, spending the day in tears because it didnt work out is self indulgent emotionalism. Like Kaz says, HTFU or get someone else to sell it for you.
Remember, you only need one buyer! Good Luck!
