Having nothing to do yesterday - yeah right, but needing new insurance I thought I'd give Youi a go. Well the best deal they could do for our house was $200 dearer and for a urine poor policy at that.
Their salesperson was determined so insisted he quote on our vehicles. He was almost drooling when I told him we had 7. Needless to say couldn't come anywhere near what we have already.
So 2 hours (I kid you not) later just rang our existing (AA) and got what I needed in less than 5 mins.
So I'm stuffed if I know how recent posters have managed to get a good deal from Youi, apart from perhaps having a real bad previous insurer.
Got a big speal that they only do "market value" so that their customers aren't paying high premiums to cover boy racers with shyte heaps insured for silly agreed value cover. Do they really think I'd believe that?
IMHO Youi = phooy !

Haven't tried myself, but two friends, both in the more mature age group, try. End result the same as your experience. the only thing I thought as well those that say they got a good deal must have had a pretty crap arrangement previously.

I am with state, my cheap run about costs $137 a year for 3rd party or $350 for full.
Youi quoted around $500 for 3rd party and over $1300 for full. then they hounded the shit out of me for weeks after i said no trying to convince me i need home insurance etc too.
poor service and crazy pricing.

Yep, on the phone for two and a half hours. House dearer by nearly $20/month, and car dearer by a similar amount.

I'm not sure why this outfit thinks entering the market with a hiss and a roar and spending heaps on marketing is going to cover up the fact they can't do anything better or cheaper than the opposition. Those sort of tactics are from an outfit that has sales way below target, bet they won't be around for long.

Youi are owned by OUTsurance Holdings, a South African insurance company.
Google "youi car insurance review" and make your own mind up (it doesn't make for pleasant reading!).

They did not bother returning my call, so Tower got my business, for another year at least.

I posted in the other car insurance thread but I'll repeat it under this heading. My daughter rang Youi for a quote and was given a figure about 50% higher than her current insurer AMI. Youi asked if the car is kept in a locked garage and how often it is used - their least frequent being once a week. AMI didn't ask. Daughter often only uses it once a month or less and it covers about 1000 km a year. ( She's a dedicated cyclist covering about 80km daily on her bike, hence the car getting little use.) I haven't considered using Youi myself, 2 cars, house and contents as I don't want to pay for their very frequent ads during the 6 pm news which wouldn't be cheap.

Wow is all I can say after reading those reviews!

Yes, it looks like they have been operating in Australia as well for a few years. The Oz reviews can be summed up with one word, YIKES.

Same. similar pattern right.
I always take online reviews on anything with a grain of salt, you only get bad reviews posted. the positive ones are happy enough and dont bother, why would they. so hard to really know the % bad to good

That smarmy Aussie with the strange tinted hair fronting their ads is enough to turn anyone off them.

Wait, you have 7 cars?!

Same here. An hour on the phone and car insurance 50% dearer, then tried to quote my house insurance which again, ended up more expensive. Took so long to answer all their questions and state just signed me up with the basic minimum asked.
Anyway back to YOUI. No matter how many times you ask them they refuse to provide any contact details for their NZ based staff. Dealing with South African call centers is an interesting experience is all I can say!
And I too have had the text messages and also emails from them saying I have to ring a number which begins with 07. The give away is the fact the number has 8 digits and not the usual 7 for a NZ number.
The quicker they leave NZ the better off we will all be IMHO.

But but George saved $463 on his car insurance. Christ who was George insured with before Youi, The mafia?

The ads alone are enough to put me off. I think insurance ads in general are products of the devil's sphincter.

But over what time did George save that, their adds have such small fine print I may need a 100inch tv to read it.

Ask them for the adresses of those "clients ' who have saved 400 $ on their house insurance . they are all actors .

Hmm maybe I should take a day of work and gets quotes on the cars in a friends sheds. all 19 of them lol
goldilocks64,

Youi would not insure any of my chevys as they could not fix them within three days. very strange I thought. AMI where cheaper and always good to deal with.
supernova2,
Mar 9, 5:38pm
Should be able to fix a chevy within three days no problem.
Crush it LOL
But honestly is there any car that could be fixed (properly) within 3 days?.
poppy62,

I'm not an actor and I saved over $1k on house and contents with Youi v Vero. My Bach however was more by about $120.00. My cars are cheaper and I did save $170.00 on one and $165.00 on another V AMI both at replacement.
