I bought a radio removal tool from TM at $22 plus post. It was $4 on eBay. It worked but bent immediately and i realised it wouldn't work often it was so cheap and thin, so in feedback I gave a Blue face and said this: 'Service was great and tool works but is very flimsy and cheap, bends just trying to use it. Not worth the money I regret.'
Seller gives me this feedback: 'Very poor communication skills, I would avoid this trader. Had trouble using product but instead of contacting us for help, just place feedback. Should have read our returns policy (would have been much easier) '
and
'This is the only trader to have ever had a problem using this product, they did not contact us for help which they obviously needed. I suspect they did not even use tools correctly. This product has been sold by us online since 2006!'
Fair? From my point of view I said service was great, and didn't need any help using it (it did work no problem), merely commented it was cheap and flimsy which at that price I would not expect.
Seems you can't give honest feedback on TM as seller will then give you bad rap.
Fair or not?

did you not contact the seller first to let him know you were unhappy with it?

You should have given the seller the opportunity to rectify the situation. Just posting bad or neutral feedback which in your case sounds pretty bad anyway, without first contacting the seller is bad form.

you should have contacted the seller first if you had an issue. Id say youve now done your dash, and theyll tell you to get lost.

Ok thanks people. I didn't contact them as I used it and it worked so had no intention of asking for money back or anything. Unsure what the point of contacting the would be. So thought mixed feedback was okay, but seems others dont agree. Interesting and thanks.

Thanks for feedback. Having trouble thinking my feedback was pretty bad, I said service was great and tool works before saying it was cheap and flimsy. I seem to be out of touch.

Yes. Doing a blue face on trade me is the ultimate kiwi insult. First world problems eh?

An interesting one. But even the "factory" Stereo Removal Tools are not exactly what I would call Robust. They bend just sitting in your glove box. Doh! ;) (Jokes, I don't keep them there).
Seems people will actually do all they can to try and maintain 100% Feedback, but to be honest I too have placed a very accurate description on how the product performed for me, just so others knew. Not a nice reception from the seller. Nothing they could have changed really. I am pretty fussy when it comes to putting sharp, or not so sharp items near my face each morning, so I told them so via feedback. Yeah, could have got a refund, but not worth the hassle and at the end of the day nobody else would have known the poor performance of the product.

With your number of trades I sure wouldn't let a blue, or a red for that matter, worry you in the slightest.

What you posted was actually justified and correct in every way shape and form. Selling cheap crap products is not on in any country let alone ours. What did the seller hope for - gods sake, Oooo lets sort this out off line so nobody gets the gist that im selling crap gear thats not fit for the purpose. Good-On-Ya for saying it as it is - I would have given a red face ;)

Always amuses me when I use paynow on an item, they charge me $8.00 for a courier bag - a 4 hour trip by car by the way, the item arrives 8 days later and was sent on the 7th day - I give them a smiley face and a 'good trade' feedback instead of winding up , they give me one back or usually none at all. it should be compulsory to give feedback IMHO, much like when you dont top up your account for a while.

Thanks others who think ok. Not worried about my overall feedback, just wondered if I was out of step with the mood of Trademe. I wouldn't have returned it as I bought it willingly and it did work, but I bought local at huge extra price expecting at least a decent quality tool!

I reckon good on you. It lets others know what to expect if they are considering purchasing off the trader. I Don??

The tm feedback system is a joke, in cases like this you're best not to give any feedback. Even though (I'm guessing) you paid straight away, sent your postal address straight away - did everything right, you still end up with not so good feedback. Like I said tm feedback is a joke as innocent people like yourself that have done everything correct come off 2nd best. I only give feedback now if it's good or bad, neutral I don't worry about placing, am even thinking about dropping the good as only get about 60% back. Reds I have no problem giving if deserved, example last one given was yesterday but only after waiting 4 weeks for them to complete trade. I'm expecting bad feedback back even though I've done nothing wrong. Most of reds I've received aren't from anything I've done, it's in retaliation because tm's feedback system allows it.

The way the feedback system SHOULD be is, seller places feedback when item has been paid for (or collected) can be edited but not changed, THEN buyer places feedback but ONLY if seller has. tm's help files state buyer is to place feedback first, hence the reason so much retaliation feedback is given. The seller can (and they do) hold good feedback for ransom - place good feedback on me or else type of stance. Or go one step further and do a ebay style feedback which is a 4 rating system, communication, shipping, item . They've copied ebay's failed gallery display so why not the feedback system. On ebay feedback is life and death and they hate retaliation feedback, on here feedback is a joke

You are right. Should wait till feedback given. Point taken thanks.

That's exactly how I do it - either way.
I have also deleted feedback after not receiving any. Just before its about to expire.
Had one guy who admitted the hold-up was because he didn't have the item due to shipment not arrived. I gathered by his lingo that he wasn't born here. Told him by email that I wasn't impressed with that as it was urgent, and I would have gone elsewhere had it been stated as not in stock. Also told him not to expect feedback, as it wouldn't be nice. And I wasn't going to give him the opportunity to crap back on me.
Incidentally - his feedback showed that it wasn't the first time, and I suggested that he should get his act together. Attempted to let TM know, but canned out of that coz I could see the procedure would waste too much of my time.

Yup, so much for the Term and Condition that says, "You will only list items that are in your possession, except where Trade Me has approved otherwise in writing". I wonder if they had authorisation from TM in Writing? 4.2(c) for those playing at home.
