DSG servicing near Papakura/South Auckland

Does anyone have any recommendations for an independent European garage that is comfortable with DSG servicing?- My MKV Golf GTi is at the ~120k interval for a DSG filter/fluid change.

a bit out of the way but we only use Qualitats for our Golf, if you book ahead they do a loan car as well

A loan car would be handy. I'll see how they fare in terms of price (taking that car into account)

Paul at PS automotive in pukekohe is very good on european

keep in mind what could happen if they muck it up. You need to be CERTAIN they are experienced with servicing the DSG and have all the correct "stuff" to do the job. If there is a huge variation in price then I'd be wanting to know what each workshop is actually doing to the gearbox

So just what is done in a proper DSG service?

From my knowledge of it, airbox is removed, Fluid is drained with a somewhat special connection which has a snorkel, filter is replaced, fluid is topped up, drain is removed. It doesn't look hard but cleanliness is key (ie. no crud dropping in while filter access is off).

I've booked it into Qualitat btw. It's a fair way away but I need to be in the CBD for work that day anyway so will drop it off on the way and use one of their cars ($20)

Pretty much it, it's also done at a particular temperature. You over fill, and then the in built snorkle sets the level.

Aside from some places charging more for labour, there is quite a cost difference between genuine DSG fluid and Febi fluid. So lot's of places use Febi now. Personally, I don't risk it, but Febi is being used by some fairly respected garages.

Take it to South Auckland ford.this transmission is now used in the mondeo desiels and they will have the correct oil and will have done plenty of these gearboxs.
These are a 60000km change .
This transmission is made by getrag

thejazzpianoma, Jun 20, 9:12am
No, that's not the case at all. Take it to VW specialist, the Ford transmission is entirely different and not even made by the same manufacturer. The only thing the Ford unit has in common is the number of gears and the general design principle.

Sorry you are wrong .face lift diesel only mondeo now use a getrag DSG gearbox.they call it a powershift. 2011 to 2014 models

jfstyle, Jun 21, 8:17am
I guess I should make it clear it is this type of trans as there are a few makers of this type of gearbox.i believe the 7 speed vw box is made by lux.these are the best type of trans out there at the moment

thejazzpianoma, May 16, 7:20pm
That's all very well, but the transmission being discussed here is not made by Getrag and it's not used in Fords. I wouldn't bother arguing with you except that people are likely to be inconvenienced by your spreading incorrect information.
