Should I down grade to a V8 to try to shake off some horse power so I dont blow another diff? Gone though 3 x 9" diffs with the current 13B set up.

You'd be better off pulling the seals out of one rotor then it'll just be a single rotor and only produce about 800hp, 9" should handle that.

slarty45, Sep 17, 8:34am
was an RX7 hill climb car up north with a Leyland 4.4
4x twin choke webers & not even a bonnet bulge
would have never known except for the noise

sr2, Sep 17, 8:38am
LOL.
Those damn 'one wheeler peelers' strike again?

rlr29, Sep 17, 8:41am
Did you choke?

bill-robinson, Sep 17, 5:06pm
find some one who can build the diff properly. or change from a 9 in and get back some of the 25% power loss

esky-tastic, Sep 17, 5:22pm
How about learning to drive properly?

patiki1, Sep 17, 6:47pm
Blew another 9" in my rotary, your boyfriend must be happy.

mrfxit, Sep 17, 6:51pm
Perhaps a little "to friendly" with the 9"

serf407, Sep 17, 6:52pm
Have to try a 14 instead.

Its all driver error !

Suggest a few basic driving lessons on how to drive a car will help !

bwg11, Sep 17, 9:24pm
Yep, that's what stuffs diffs more than horsepower.

friendly_prawn, Sep 17, 11:44pm
Problem solved. Swapped the 13B out for Chev V8. No hope of ever breaking another 9" now. :-)

friendly_prawn, Sep 18, 4:34am
Problem is with the V8 its too slow. Probably about time the old V8 dinasour engines were put out to pasture isnt it?

jmma, Sep 18, 4:43am
He will probably blow a seal now :o)

bill-robinson, Sep 18, 4:49am
do you think he can get his lips around the flywheel?

muzz67, Sep 18, 6:21am
only if the ring-gear gets buggered.

smallwoods, Sep 18, 8:56am
Always has been a problem and it's the motor not the diff.
At the rota v V8 drags, the rotas always end with only 2 or 3 cars for the last round.
Mostly blown diffs.

Purely from the snap loading on the diff, where the 8"s torque is easier on the diff.

Short answer, learn to drive.
Oh I have an RX7 as a street car and two as race cars and a couple of V8's to boot.

extrayda, Sep 18, 9:41am
Should have just kept the rotary and put a milder cam in it.
Or maybe you measured optimistically and it isn't actually a 9 inch you were blowing ;-)

friendly_prawn, Sep 18, 4:39pm
At least some ones brave enough to admit Rotarys are too powerful for 9" diffs. Brap brap brap brap brap!

whqqsh, Sep 18, 5:32pm
building revs & dumping the clutch will do it for any stock diff, maybe you need to spend $$ on some aftermarket goodies

richardmayes, Sep 18, 6:45pm
Oh.

I thought this was the romance section.

LOL; to quote Oscar Wilde, 'as long as it's behind closed doors and doesn't scare the horses' (or something like that).
