Hi,
Im looking at a couple of cars. One in Nelson and the other in Queenstown.

Any recommendations for car transport companies and what could I expect to pay?

Cheers

If your looking in Nelson may be you could get it delivered to Picton to go on the Ferry and get a cheap flight to Wellington and drive home . Must be something special if you have to shop on the Mainland . Bought an Auckland car a month ago and picked it up from Picton . Didn't have the time to do the fly drive home thing and i am at least 3.5hrs drive from a cheap flight for a start . Good luck .

Might I suggest you DON'T use anybody associated with Auto Movements. I've had a vehicle sitting here for nearly a month awaiting pickup. They finally got it at 9.00pm on Friday. The guy who was waiting for the car was just about beside himself but he was the one who organised the freighting.

Wow $1800 to tow a car from Queenstown to Auckland. Is it just me or does that seem kinda high?

I purchased a car from Nelson, 3 years ago now and had it shipped to Auckland using the " Car Distribution Group ", can't remember the cost now, but was the cheapest option at the time. It was from depot to depot, they picked the car up from the Honda Nelson plant ( at that time they were moving cars from there regularly, that may have changed now? ), and I picked the car up from Pikes Point in Onehunga and it was a good experience with no issues. It was the middle of winter and at the time the cost was less than flying down, driving it back when weighing up the ferry cost, time, and petrol being a V8 plus the weather and chance of the desert road being closed ?

1600km plus a ferry. Ferry is $170
So lets see:
Fuel for 1600km - $400 probably more
RUC for 1600km - $108
Ferry $170
Labour 25 hrs @$16.50 - $412
So thats $1090 and I bet the driver gets more than $16.50,and you haven't put anything in for wear and tear on the truck, motel for the night etc. Dare I say what about a profit for the business as well or do you think they might do it all for cost?

Had a Escort van brought up from Oamaru S.I to Thames N.I - door to door,2 yrs ago. I was happy, went pretty fast, No damage. Get a quote - Brent 0800 150 800 He will get back if busy. Have had another quote for nxt pick up from Brent, and will give him the job. saves me goin long way - bloody stress, if like this with weather, yeh dont need it.
